The Role:

The Occupational Health Nurse Case Manager is responsible for complex clinical and operational work across Tesla's manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities. The Nurse Case Manager supports day-to-day operations by managing key occupational health programs and processes including injury care management, medical surveillance, and fitness for duty. This individual will also provide clinical consultation to various stakeholders within and external to the organization. The Nurse Case Manager will work closely with the greater occupational health team to develop, implement, and maintain core occupational health policies, initiatives, and programs.

  • Provide injury care management oversight and quality review of process flow across interactions with Tesla's Workers Compensation Incident Management team, employees, and supervisors
  • Partner with Tesla's Corporate Medical Director to guide follow-up action items, communications, and documentation through case disposition
  • Oversee internal and external clinical providers in the collection of medical records to identify diagnoses, and develop treatment and return to work plans
  • Provide clinical expertise and quality review for Tesla's Incident Management, Workers Compensation, HR, and EHS teams
  • Manage daily administration of Tesla's Medical Surveillance Programs
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the implementation of Occupational Health policies related to respiratory protection, hearing conservation, blood borne pathogens, etc. as well as oversight of Tesla's fitness for duty evaluations
  • Assist with the development, implementation and management of Tesla's electronic medical record (EMR) system by developing standardized processes for on-site medical staff
  • Analyze incident trends and other key performance indicators (KPIs) that can be used for injury/risk reduction

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Nurse Case Manager or Occupational Nurse role
  • Certificate from an accredited Nursing School or Associates' degree (A.S.)
  • Active Registered Nurse license
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with reviewing and summarizing medical records, clinical care with injured workers, musculoskeletal injuries (acute and chronic) and internal medicine, requirements and content for audiometry and respiratory protection (29 CFR 1910.134 and .95), and workers' compensation (California preferred)
  • Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) or ability to become certified
  • Knowledge and experience working with electronic medical records
  • The ability to understand business and apply these technical skills to Tesla's global operations
  • Evidence of exceptional ability
