Overview / Responsibilities
Wood currently has an opportunity for a Senior Piping Designer on a Permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible to provide support to a project in all aspects of piping design and layout as well as production of designs for piping systems and equipment layouts for procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and safe operation. The role will be based in Staines.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities. They will be confident in their own ability to deliver the Piping scope on a project on time and within budget, while facilitating effective work share with other execution centres around the world.
  • Produce construction deliverables for piping systems and equipment layouts using 2D and 3D CAD systems
  • Ensures compliance with piping and layout specifications and guidelines as well as applicable code requirements and national /international standards
  • Report on work status/ problem areas/ needs
  • Develop and maintain discipline project documentation and design data records
  • File and maintain project records (engineering sketches, layouts, studies etc)
  • Assists in the development of discipline project documentation and design data records.
  • Attend project model review meetings
  • Interface with design disciplines regarding development of piping deliverables
  • Liaison with and reporting to Piping Lead Designer
  • Support the delivery of layout and piping design deliverables
  • Have a working knowledge of company and project QA requirements

Skills / Qualifications
  • ONC or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
  • Working knowledge of PDMS and AutoCAD
  • Experience in the process plant / or power industry, working in a project environment for a contracting company
  • Project experience of working in a variety of projects including grassroots, brownfield and revamp types
  • Sound knowledge of pipe routings and development aspects and phases of plot plans including understanding of other piping design skills such as stress analysis, specifications etc
