According to the Australian Climate Council, for Australian Businesses, the renewable energy sector is here to stay.
A new report reveals nearly half of companies are taking their operations off-grid by introducing more large solar power and battery storage systems.
The research piece says average household and small business energy prices are almost 90 percent more than they were a decade ago, indicating bills are three times higher than they were in 2013.
Statistics like these seem to have caught the attention of business owners, as solar power installations increased by 60 percent year-on-year in 2017. The report also highlights solar energy capacity (within businesses) doubling since 2016.
The report reads: “Australia is experiencing a boom in renewable energy, with over 5,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy projects like wind and solar farms under construction in 2018.”
“Wholesale price reductions primarily due to the Renewable Energy Target are projected to reduce average consumer power bills across Australia by nearly $200 over the next two years.”
“Wind and solar prices have fallen significantly in the past decade and they are now the cheapest type of new-build generation – far cheaper than new coal power station.”
