The Unite Union has warned that Offshore workers on Shell's North Sea platform could be taking industrial action is further pay cuts are announced.
Unite Union has demanded that any planned changes to terms and conditions be withdraw with union officials stating any cuts would be met with strong opposition.
Earlier this year Wood Group PSN announced it would be cutting rates paid to approximately a third of its UK contractor workforce. Wood Group stated this cut was due to the continued challenges affecting the oil and gas industry particularly in the North Sea.
Unite said: “The offshore workers say that the major oil companies are dictating that further cuts to their employers be passed onto the workforce.
“This is now giving rise to serious consideration by offshore workers that they will revert to industrial action.”
A Wood Group spokeswoman said: “We continuously review our resource requirements to meet our customer needs and drive efficiency and effectiveness in our service provision.”
