Role description An exciting opportunity has arisen at RWE Generation UK for a C&I Engineer to join the engineering team at Pembroke Power Station on a full time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Lead C&I Engineer, you will provide engineering support to the Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams to deliver challenging operational, technical and commercial targets.

You will develop plant area knowledge and expertise within CCGT to implement, manage and review a broad range of engineering projects and programmes.

You will also contribute to the growth of a world class safety culture.

Main Purpose of Job: To provide the expertise and assistance to ensure that the correct standard of engineering is applied to all aspects of operational, maintenance and engineering work at Pembroke Power Station.

To provide technical support within the fields of control & instrumentation systems and engineering support to all of the stations departments. This support is expected to involve elements of hands-on engineering.

Skills and experience Possess in depth knowledge and a practical experience of automated control systems, industrial networking, field instrumentation and final elements.

Possess a good appreciation of power plant operational processes and continuous control systems.

An engineering qualification to the minimum level of HND or equivalent in an electrical / electronic / control or relevant engineering discipline.

Be competent and have experience in contract management and contractor supervision.

Candidates should be commercially aware and capable of operating with the minimum of guidance and supervision, and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, well organised and be capable of providing support to the greater station team

The candidate must be fully committed and flexible to meet the business requirements and this role will involve out of hours working and weekend working.

Principle Accountabilities:

Providing technical support on a daily basis to the operational and maintenance teams, fault diagnosis, rectification and improvement. This will involve hands-on elements, assisting with control system and instrumentation maintenance and engineering support.

Working indirectly to advise Maintenance Technicians and Craftspeople

Engaging and assisting appropriate specialist maintenance and engineering support, internal and external.

Working on and delivery of C & I Engineering projects and development of C & I competence and capabilities throughout the station.

Setting the engineering standards to ensure station compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements

o Corporate Procedures

o Current and Forthcoming Legislation

o Process Safety relevant to discipline area

o Liaison with all site department to ensure their requirements are met and that the station can improve its standards

Developing the plant asset strategies for control system and instrumentation engineering equipment,

based upon the stations C and I strategy, safety and commercial risk assessment. This will include

o Routine inspections

o Condition Monitoring and Maintenance

o Outages and commissioning

o Spares management and identification of critical spares

o Assist with the management of the inspection, testing and repair of the C&I system components within nominated plant areas

o The Functioning of the C&I site workshop

o Calibration Routines, Recording Results and identifying improvements

o Repair of instrumentation

o Specification of instrumentation for site duties

o Software management

o DSEAR management and maintenance

o Safety related systems with respect to control and instrumentation

Management of budgets and contracts

Act as Technical Officer (TO) for contracts including outage activities

Identifying Plant Improvements and contributing to relevant scheme papers

Projecting and managing minor projects & Plant Modifications

Contributing to the stations plant history/plant status documentation system.

Inputting to the Plant Modification procedure

Guidance / Coaching of the C & I Technicians and craft

Support for C & I related major plant issues out of hours, which will involve telephone support and occasional site attendance.
