Position Summary

Internship positions at Jacobs provide college students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in their specific area of study. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.

This position is in the Orlando, FL office for a highly motivated student interested in Transportation Engineering. It involves supporting senior staff on roadway projects to produce construction plans and engineering documents for clients such as the Florida Dept of Transportation. The majority of work effort involves Microstation CADD, along with quantity/cost estimation, and various production support activities. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program.

  • Perform routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision.
  • May use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Collects and prepares data for evaluation.
  • Assisting in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations.
  • Providing support to engineering staff members as needed.
• Must be a junior or senior working towards a BS, Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution

• Interest in transportation design/plans production
• Experience in roadway and drainage design/plans production utilizing Microstation and Geopak software a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel) used to develop reports/calculations
• Excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills and ability to effectively document design decisions/calculations.
