Role synopsis
  • Deliver Finance support to operating cost and capital cost reporting, actuals assurance, and budget and forecasting processes, covering several sub-finctional areas.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes in accordance with the Group Reporting Manual and any other relevant standards and ensure all other Group standards.
  • The Team Leader provides line management and leadership for the relevant team members. Team Lead works closely with his/her line manager to set targets for the team and provides guidence and support to all team members.
  • He/She will have solid accounting and business knowledge as well as people management experience and will use these to manage the team and both internal and external stakeholders, many of whom will not have a Fiannce background.
  • The Team Leader works with the Service Manager to ensure appropriate level of competencies, skills and knowledges are available in the team in order to reach team targets.
  • Controls all accounting areas belonging to his / her team and supports team members in problem solving of complex or difficult accounting areas.
  • They will work closely with the business,including Deployed Control teams, the Planning & Performance team, Budget Responsibility Officiers and Activity Owners, to ensure effective delivery, to resolve issues and to put in place process and efficiency improvements.
  • The role will include supporting team members in working with Budget Responsibility Officers in developing or updating forecasts, supporting Activity Owners in reviewing, updating and assuring the Value of Work Done for the period, providing assurance on accruals and providing commentary to explain variances.
  • They will also provide back up support to the Service Manager during times of absence.
  • The Team Lead will have some operational tasks of their own, in addtion to supporting team members.


Key accountabilities
  • Manage their team to complete timely and accurate month / quarter end close activities.
  • Coach and develop members of the team and coordinate team activities.
  • Ensure correct reporting and accounting treatment and resolution of issues and queries with reference to Group Reporting Manuals and / or working closely with the Business teams supported.
  • The Team Leader will work with Service Manager to understand the priorities and work to deliver against these as required.
  • T he Team Leader will drive process improvements of a notable nature and manage the relevant people to put these in place.
  • Work with the Business teams supported to ensure mutual understanding of all accounting entries and follow up on queries.
  • Support the team members in resolution of complex and difficult queries and issues as they arise with reference to relevant resources such as the Group Reporting Manual, working with the Business / Country teams or other support from within the GBS.
  • Develop a good understanding of the business areas they and their team support.
  • For specific areas they support: review and assure the Value of Work Done with the relevant budget holder in the Business team and ensure this is correctly reflected in the accounting system.
  • Provide assurance on actuals and accruals and to provide commentary to the Business teams to explain balances or variances.
  • Prepare monthly reports for budget holders and provide commentary on changes in the forecast or to explain variance in actual versus forecast.
  • Work with budget holders to capture and record any plan/ forecast changes and risk or opportunities related to the forecast.
  • Comply with any other job-related requirements. This may be defined by an attached task list or defined by one the Service Manager, Process Lead or business contact.


Essential Education
  • Relevant degree
  • Fluency in English
  • People management experience


Essential experience and job requirements
  • 5 to 6 year experience in related Finance area
  • Language and interpersonal skills with particular focus on client responsiveness
  • Strong level of analytical skills, numeracy and strong financial understanding
  • Ability to lead a team of 5-10 people
