ABB Corporate Research Centre in Sweden is located in Västerås, about 100 kilometers west of Stockholm. Together with our colleagues in other R&D centres we develop technologies for future products and services for ABB's core businesses.

Tasks:
Finger design automation of industrial grippers is one of the most important topics in robotics. Fingers for grippers are important for the success and overall performance of the workcell. As a consequence designing robust and reliable fingers is of the highest significance in the robot design.
The existing automatic finger generator algorithms do not consider the sensors in fingers structure. The focus of this thesis is to develop the existing AFG algorithm to consider sensors while designing the fingers. Then, the designed fingers will be produced and experimentally verified.

Requirements:
We welcome master students with an interest and background in mechanics, industrial design, mechatronics and robotics. The students we are looking for have completed courses in his or her corresponding engineering field. We would like our thesis students to be motivated to solve real world problems by applying state-of-the-art methods. Strong people skills are required as the student may have to interact with stakeholders from various levels in the company and parts of the world.
