Job Overview:

This individual will be responsible for planning and coordinating the day to day training sessions of regulatory, compliance and front line leadership courses to support the site's HSE training requirements as defined by the HSE Manager

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Facilitating training to model 'best practices' in delivering regulatory, compliance and front line leadership training, managing activities in compliance with CB&Is HSE Training CMSs and providing assistance / support for site specific HSE training content.
  • Individual will have 2 - 3 years' experience coordinating, developing and facilitating presentations / workshops with adults incorporating: a.) adult basic learning theory, b.) content delivery (lesson planning, presentations and assessment strategies), c.) an understanding of instructional design best practices for print based and technology based media and d.) utilizing training data to plan and schedule required training in concert with the site's construction cycle.
  • Prior experience will include effectively managing training activities using instructional best practices and adult learning methodologies, providing feedback / coaching that supports positive change, creating an environment that elicits individual initiative.
  • Position requires that a candidate possess excellent classroom management skills along with facilitation / presentation skills.
  • Candidate must be enthusiastic, engaging, an experienced public speaker comfortable in front of large groups; able to work effectively and efficiently with little or no direct supervision; able to quickly adapt to various leaning environments and diverse populations and adapt the presentation of course content to include site specific information and unique site safety requirements.
  • This individual should also be familiar with features / functionality of an enterprise wide web based learning management system.
  • Must be able to analyze training data to monitor participation levels, coordinate site HSE training schedules, and to provide general oversight of HSE training activities to respond to immediate/short-term goals, regulatory / compliance and long-term strategic requirements.
  • Candidate will also serve as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illnesses.
  • Provide technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state and/or company environmental, safety, and health regulations.
  • Keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Conduct compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety, and health standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed.
  • Recommend facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
  • Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence, and procedures manuals.
  • Establishes and maintains licenses and permits as required.
  • Under limited supervision, applies accepted policies, practices, and standards to promote the environmental safety and health program and provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Perform a variety of complex tasks.
  • Some work is routine and instructions are detailed.
  • Typically reports to the HSE manager or director and will perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be a self- starter with excellent time management skills
Basic Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have 5+ year experience in field Safety, along with 2 - 3 years of classroom / training experience including direct responsibility for scheduling, record keeping, content delivery and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with front line supervisors.
  • An associate's degree or experience in a related field is a plus.
  • Candidate must also have intermediate skills using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as well as excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • This individual should be able to work with minimal supervision while meeting all job performance requirements in accordance with operational requirements / procedures.
  • Candidate must be bilingual; fluent in English and Spanish
  • This positions requires constant- 90-100%; Standing and Walking; Observing (vision; viewing a computer screen), Hearing (listening), Lifting 20-50 lbs; Carrying 20-50 lbs; Pushing; Pulling; Climbing; Balancing; Bending; Stooping; Kneeling; Crouching; Reaching; Handling; Feeling; Hearing (listening) and Observing (vision) and Travel (15 - 30%). This position is subject to potential on-site hazards including but not limited to; moving industrial equipment, electrical current, confined spaces, LO/TO, working at heights, high noise and dust levels, etc.
  • Will work in indoor and outdoor environments; outdoor environments will include a variety of harsh weather conditions, including but not limited to extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, sleet and snow. Must be willing to report to work on short notice (within 24 hours) and work night/weekends as required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with OSHA safety training and OSHA 500, 501certification, an associate's degree or related courses with focus on education and training is preferred. Spanish as a second language is a plus.
