E.ON is a global provider of specialised energy solutions. We're also an important trader in global commodities, working hard to make the best deals possible for our worldwide business and, ultimately, our customers. We operate one of the largest streetlight contracting businesses in the UK, with a large presence in the Midlands and the North West. As well as providing new installations for most of the UK's housing developers, we also work for the majority of the local authorities in our areas. We're not stopping there though: we're now implementing a major new initiative to expand the operation. As part of it, we're looking for experienced, hard-working Street Lighting electricians to join us. E.ON offer a full training package and support for their employees and there is the potential to train the successful candidates in Low Voltage Cable Jointing to enhance their skills.
Organised and efficient and with proven experience in a similar role, you'll be working in a team with another electrician or cable jointer carrying out maintenance, installation and connection of street lighting apparatus and other highway assets.
You'll need the technical expertise to carry out the tasks of a highways lighting electrician. Safety is our priority in all these activities, so as well as being first aid qualified, it's essential you have experience of assessing risks and working according to strict safety guidelines.
The role is to install and wire street lighting columns and highway electrical street furniture with the ability or desire to be trained to carry out limited connections to DNO/IDNO networks. The role will also include basic testing and inspection to BS767, fault finding on private networks, excavation and reinstatement in multiple surface types to current NRSWA standards as well as maintaining street lighting and highway electrical street furniture. You will be expected to carry out the safe use and operation of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role and work a safe manner and in accordance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
It's an outdoor role that will often be physically demanding, so it's fair to say you'll be challenged at times. But you'll be rewarded for your work. As well a salary, you'll get overtime and a host of other employee benefits. There's also the opportunity for real career development here. Honing your skills on the job, you'll find there's ample room for promotion.
