Business Development Manager
I am recruiting for a Business Development Manager to be based in Europe on a staff basis for my client, a specialty chemicals company who provide for a broad range of food and industrial applications.
You will be responsible for business Development Manager will be responsible for generating new sales in three areas. These areas are existing products into new end markets, new products into existing end markets and finally new products into new end markets. This role requires excellent project management capability and the ability to develop a deep understanding of new market / product opportunity. Success in this role is achieved when incubation ends and the new opportunity generates sustainable earnings, the key learnings are documented and shared, and the opportunity is successfully transitioned to account management.
Candidates require a degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials at least 5 years of relevant experience in sales, marketing and business development in the chemical industry or equivalent experience. Preferably experience working with a multi-national environment,
Must be willing to travel up to 50% or more as required.
Lead global business development efforts in alignment with the targeted opportunities as established by the process, annual operating budget and VP/GM of the business unit. Lead the cross functional team to successfully scale up the new opportunity at the customer. Always serve as the contact point person and champion for the customer during this incubation period.
Document and share key learnings for each new opportunity during and after the incubation period throughout the organization. Validate the efficacy and value proposition of the new offering. Provide front line feedback where retooling or improving the offering is required or warranted. Liaison between all functions to solidify product scope, specifications / timing, regulatory, and costs of any new product development. Provide / validate key data to assist in the preparation of detailed business analyses on new product concepts. Provide feedback to the marketing team regarding marketing collateral needs and utilize said collateral to create industry awareness for the new offering. In partnership with the Pricing Team - recommend, negotiate and implement pricing strategy as agreed with the VP/GM of the business unit. Gather and validate detailed knowledge and understanding of product offering technology, competitive environment and industry structure. Continuously provide meaningful information pertaining to this data to marketing and pricing teams. Establish contacts and network within key markets and industries as well as academic institutions in order to define market needs and facilitate discussion on technologies available to meet these needs. New ideas will be submitted to the process. Collect and translate the voice of the customer to lead development of new product/market and service offerings that meet customer's needs and wants. Lead training efforts for distribution channels regarding new offerings. Work effectively with a cross-functional team of supplier and internal resources. Maintain CRM and other data repositories as required.
