Role synopsis
• This role is responsible for the successful delivery of Marine & Energy customer orders within the required BP HSSE standards and Marine & Energy service level agreements.
• This service is provided through the effective use of 3 rd party contractors for both warehousing & transportation.

Key accountabilities
  • Compliance with BP Group HSSE standards and Marine specific standards.
    • Thorough understanding of Marine HSSE standards and emergency response plans and mitigating potential HSSE hazards or risks in the distribution operation accordingly. Marine standards will apply to Energy.

  • Capturing and processing of Marine & Energy orders.

  • Receive & process the orders in MANTA and JDE from Marine, Energy and Marine lubes customers in South Africa and marine consignment locations in the Sub Sahara region.

  • Communicating the status of orders to the respective parties.

  • Co-ordinate closely with vessel agents and port authorities to update information on vessel ETA"s
  • Interact with customers & order managers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about product supplies and other related issues within agreed time frames.


  • Coordination and resourcing of stock/deliveries to meet both planned and unplanned demand.
    • Operate as the focal point between the customers/agents, order managers, Planning Team and 3 rd Party Contractors.
    • Plan and schedule deliveries based on vessel ETAs to ensure that orders are supplied in full and on time (IFOT).
    • Stock Management - The regular and on going verification of stock status and condition in order to ensure that the M&E customer expectations and SLA are met.


  • Maintaining service levels that meet or exceed Marine/Energy requirements.
    • Ensure that DRNs are received from contractors and agents are legible and submitted to Synergy within agreed time frames in order to ensure an efficient O2C cycle.
    • Investigate HIDS cases and carry out RCA's to determine the root cause and report with corrective action(s) as per the service-level agreement.


    • Provide updated product, port and delivery capability to the Marine Demand Planner in order to update the Marine DMS.
    • Participate and provide input into the monthly ME Demand Planning meeting in order to ensure that the Regional Demand Controller can adequately support the business for the region.
    • This role requires good communication skills to ensure that there is clarity on supply arrangements and that customers' expectations are met or exceeded.
    • Active involvement in the introduction of new SKU's and working with Marketing PU to ensure Marine products are introduced through the correct channels and ensure validation of the new SKU's is carried out in order for stock to be held at the depot.
    • Ensure that export orders are processed and executed from Order Receipt through to order dispatch.
    • Need to ensure that 3rd Party contractors are updated in the changes of BP's policies
    • Monthly Marine performance reporting is required including cost variances.


Essential Education
  • Must possess a Matric/Grade 12.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the marine supply environment.
  • Working knowledge of Manta, JDE ERP systems.
  • Computer literate (Intermediate MS Office.)
  • Export knowledge is required.
  • Must possess a sound understanding of the shipping and marine lubricants business.
  • Sound Knowledge of the port operations and regulations
