We are seeking a Utility Surveyor with previous utility mapping experience to support the expansion of our buried services division within the UK Geomatics business. The Utility Surveyor will be required to efficiently organise and maintain field survey teams and equipment to complete utility mapping tasks project tasks. You will be able to review job specifications and plan fieldwork methods, and accurately observe, calculate and record field data.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities associated with this post will include:

  • Liaison with other members of the Geomatics team to allocate appropriate staff and equipment resources to enable work to be delivered to time, budget and quality
  • Communication of project related issues to the Geomatics Project Manager
  • Assistance and input into the preparation of margin profiles for projects
  • Monitoring and reporting of costs and progress to the Project Manager
  • Mentoring of Graduate Surveyors and Assistant Surveyors to identify training requirements
  • Checking of surveys using robust Quality Assurance Procedures prior to verification by a nominated checker
  • Production of survey drawings and reports
  • Production of Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Safe Plan of Actions

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience working on Utility Mapping projects and has demonstrable project experience.
  • Demonstrable experience managing Utility Mapping field crews.
  • Work without direct day-to-day supervision and make technical and supervisory decisions for projects assigned within specified limits of authority.
  • Experience in identification of, and marketing, to scanning clients.
  • Experience with operating and interpreting digital outputs from various Utility Mapping instruments including the IDS Duo series and Radio Detection.
  • Experience with Land Survey modelling software.
  • Land Surveying experience.
  • Full driving licence is essential.


Desirable Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred but not essential.
  • Professional Membership of a Chartered Institution.
  • Evidence of planning daily activities considering possible multiple projects to meet productivity goals set by Project Managers.
  • Evidence of recommendations to Project Managers for external equipment, procedural changes, and new equipment purchases.
  • Evidence of input to Project Managers and Group Leaders for the formal performance evaluation of crew members.
  • Evidence of survey department and field team training.
