JOB SCOPE:
The Petrophysicist for Interpretation and Evaluation Services (IES) is responsible for providing timely and accurate log data processing and interpretation with data acquired in open hole, cased hole, surface logging, or LWD instruments, and discussing and delivering the results to the client.  Additionally, the applicant may be responsible for leading a team of analysts, ensuring proper distribution of workload, compliance with company quality control procedures, and some supervisory duties.
A Petrophysicist is also expected to represent to client the IES capabilities and perform technical sales of these services.
Below is a sample list of processing and Interpretations that shall be expected from a Petrophysicist:
  • Openhole data quality check and control
  • Volumetric interpretation of openhole log data using various interpretation models
  • Acoustic waveform data processing and slowness extraction.
  • Acoustic data analysis for Stoneley properties and formation anisotropy; and any future processing that shall be made available.
  • Image data quality check and speed correction to create dynamic and static images
  • Automatic and manual dip picking and classification.
  • Interpretation of Image and dip data for various formation and geological properties.
  • Basic cased hole knowledge and interpretation
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Work in a safe manner, both while in the office and outside. Complete all QHSE training and active participation and contribution in safety meetings and drills
  2. Utilize understanding of Acoustic/Imaging/Petrophysical disciplines to deliver accurate and quality controlled processed and interpreted results independently or with assistance from senior employees in complex or high priority tasks requiring accuracy and adherence to prescribed testing, analysis and design.
  3. Writing and/or assisting in technical reports or documents for internal and/or external distribution.
  4. Develops internal network for knowledge sharing within the company, participates in local technology watch or professional events
  5. Assist in software development, testing and troubleshooting.
  6. Wherever needed, develop codes/scripts/workflows that may assist in performing simple computation/tasks which are not available otherwise.
  7. Analyze possible client, product, or research solutions using standard procedures in order to recommend ideas or changes.
  8. Interacts with internal and external clients, with moderate supervision, in a professional and courteous manner.
  9. Communicates general information within the team, to the client or to senior employees to coordinate and update project tasks, striving for consistent quality.
  10. Contributes to local technical strategy through awareness and support of organization processes and industry trends.
  11. Contributes to project teams, recommends ideas, changes, or solutions to problems, and pursues opportunities for personal or team growth.
  12. Recognizes how external changes affect the company, looks for methods or techniques to minimize negative impact/maximize potential.

  15. Completes all assigned trainings on the E-Connect.

  17. Adaptive to changes in the work environment, location and resource limitness.
  18. Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
  19. Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
  20. Complete all QHSE Training.
  21. Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
  22. Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

  • Expertise in WL and/or LWD data interpretation and its applications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors (or higher) Degree in Geosciences, Science or Engineering.
  • 2-7 consecutive years of relevant professional experience in the upstream petroleum industry.
  • 2-7 years' experience working as an LWD and/or Wireline Log analyst in the upstream petroleum industry.
  • Fluent in English.  Excellent Written & Oral Communication skills.
  • Very good presentation skills
