In this position, you can expect to be responsible for the following:

Under general supervision, provides a broad range of clerical and administrative duties for corporate attorneys.  Requires knowledge of legal terminology and document formatting such as contracts, briefs, summonses, complaints, and motions.  Additional job duties for this position reflect the specific operation of the Legal & Contracts organization.  Ability to apply acceptable computer skills in at least two software packages, including EDMS and SAP, over and above the Microsoft Office suite of software products is required. 

Provide assistance to the department's Proprietary Information Coordinator, and to the department's Patent and Trademark Administrator as required.
WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR  TYPICAL JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

1. Provide overall legal administrative support to the corporate legal and contracts group.

2. Provide assistance to the Proprietary Information Coordinator.  Serve as Proprietary Information Coordinator's back-up during times of absence.

3. Provide assistance to the Patent and Trademark Coordinator.  Responsible for maintaining the patent and trademark databases, and for monitoring workflow and the status of patent and trademark activities during any absence of the Patent and Trademark Coordinator. 

4. Responsible for typing letters, memos and reports.  Archive and retrieve documents in electronic document management system (EDMS).

5. Organizes and maintains all files relating to litigation, patent and trademark filings, and administrative matters. 

6. Maintain working knowledge of specific policies and procedures relating to proprietary information and patent and trademark administration.
 

Job Requirements
High school graduate or the equivalent, plus two years of accredited post high school education in the subject of legal or paralegal.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
No experience required if the education requirement is met.  Three additional years of related experience supporting a legal department or law firm may substitute for one year of the required education.  Must be able to type 40 wpm.  Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products as determined by departmental need.
