Preparation of proposals/bids, contract negotiation and compliance with contract commitments and commercial risk assessment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide negotiations preparation and support to Project Managers, Sales, Bid Managers and other functions for large-ticket equipment sales and service agreements
  • Provide review, analyze key issues and assess risk in commercial contracts, develop mitigation strategies
  • Prepare persuasive positions for (and sometimes lead) complex contract negotiations for dispute resolution with customers and suppliers
  • Support the development and implementation of risk management processes and controls working with Project Management leadership
  • Negotiate various contractual positions, including: warranties, delay liabilities, changes in scope, schedule etc.
  • Guide Project Managers through successful project execution strategies in high risk projects
  • Travel estimated at 10%, some international travel likely
  • Consult with the Legal Team as necessary to support contract negotiations and project management, also dispute resolution
  • Teach contracts management skills to the Project Managers and Bid Managers, with on job training and some formal training sessions

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree with strong academic record - technical, engineering, business a plus
  • Six years of commercial or transactional contract negotiation experience, or equivalent
  • Fluency in English language
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and concepts as used in commercial contracts
  • Good verbal and written communications skills, including presentations to customers and GE team members
  • Ability to influence and persuade
  • Organized and self-motivated for success
  • Demonstrated prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to provide creative business-oriented advice in a global, multi-cultural and fast-paced environment
  • Experience in working in different cultures and environments
  • Experience with direct customer contact and negotiations - written and verbal/presentation
  • Experience working in a matrix organization with stakeholders in various departments

    Desired Characteristics

  • General understanding of water treatment technologies and customer industries and operations
  • Prior experience in an "expert" role supporting a business team
  • Experience working with large Design-Build contractors (and contracts) is a plus
  • Substantive knowledge of commercial contracts in international business
  • Working knowledge and understanding of products, services and technologies of GE Water a plus
