Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Basic Function of the position is to maintain a working knowledge of the union contract and payroll systems in order to accurately pay union employees under the USW and IBEW contracts. Input overtime and absences for Salaried exempt and non-exempt employees.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process 3 payrolls bi-weekly for 355+ hourly employees.
  • Ensure time is entered and coded correctly for all hourly employees in accordance with the respective labor contract and state/federal wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain an accurate count of each operator's vacation.
  • Run and publish overtime reports monthly per unit.
  • Update and distribute weekly step-up report to management.
  • Enter Salaried non-exempt overtime into SAP.
  • Obtain full/working knowledge of KRONOS Timekeeping system.
  • Furnish information to HR on types of absences. Furnish other information as requested on various payroll issues from various supervisors, HR and for legal purposes.
  • Furnish reports on routine and as requested basis for various departments, HR and Management, some for legal purposes. Notify supervisors when an employee should have an unpaid day based on attendance. Notify hourly and salaried employees of pay issues such as STD. Work with individual employees concerning payroll issues where there are questions/problems. Work with Corporate Payroll and HRIS Departments to ensure pay codes are accurate.
  • Obtain working knowledge of non-union Cray Valley payroll functions and assist/ back-up as required.
  • Ensure that refinery quality and safety initiatives are carried out in daily activities


Profile sought
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • AAS in Accounting, General Business or related field with 2+ years relevant industry payroll experience; or 5+ years Human Resources Generalist/Payroll experience required.
  • Experience working within a Union Contract is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in HRIS systems such as SAP, and KRONOS is strongly preferred.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality of employee information, demonstrate good communication skills, be very detail oriented.
