The Senior Project Management Staff Manager will have accountability and a team of Project Managers to deliver aftermarket Conversions, Modifications and Uprates (CM&U) projects involving upgrades for the B / E Combined Cycle Portfolio within the North America Region.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Senior Project Management Staff Manager, you will:
  • Own and drive Non-F Combined Cycle project portfolio: growth revenue, margin, and cash
  • Work closely with region teams to drive fulfillment
  • Hire, manage, and mentor a team of project managers who are responsible for the gas and steam turbines, generator, balance of plant (BOP) and HRSG projects
  • Actively participate in and implement Project Management Office (PMO) processes to ensure operational rigor and discipline, including cost forecasting, project reporting, and maintaining integrity and accuracy of project data, information and project documentation in Project Management Systems
  • Drive project reviews for risk mitigation, best practices / lessons learned, and project execution excellence and sharing
  • Serve as the first line of escalation for customer concerns / issues and ensure customer satisfaction and issue resolution
  • Own portfolio execution, including coordination of engineering, procurement, shipping logistics, field execution of outage scope and performance demonstration
  • Work with commercial teams to understand, own and implement contract terms & conditions and limit GE risk on project tendering



Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a technical or business degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the delivery of engineering services of Power Generation Equipment within a commercial environment
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability and willingness to travel 40% of the time, as required

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Business or Technical discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Thorough understanding of modern power generation equipment, systems, and facilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multi-levels and functions of both internal and external organizations
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills and passion for Project Management, preferably managing aftermarket Conversions, Modifications and Uprates (CM&U) projects involving upgrades
  • 10 years of experience in either field engineering, commercial, engineering, sourcing, repair, power plant operation and maintenance or other adjacent role with Combined Cycle Power Plants
  • Skilled at leading in a matrix organization; capable of influencing and leading cross functional team members despite limited authority
  • Skilled Communicator; professional and tactful in oral and written communications with multiple GE functions/levels and with the Customer; applies good judgment on frequency and detail of communication
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Personnel management experience
  • Appetite for learning PM processes and tools, as well as CM&U products and technology updates
  • Ability to set realistic objectives, accurately appraise situations, detect risks and issues, and collaborate with GE internal teams and customer to find win-win solutions when issues arise
  • Experience with interpreting or applying Contract terms & conditions and binding agreements
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, revenue recognition, costs, margin, and quarterly forecasting
  • Extended scope experience involving power plant equipment and auxiliary systems
  • Direct customer facing experience
  • PMP Certification, Project Management Leadership Program (PMLP) Graduate, or other Project Management training
  • Quality or similar equivalent training
