JOB SCOPE:
Responsibilities include analyzing needs, developing specifications, designing and testing new sensors and algorithms for the oil well Wireline logging industry. Develop new and advance open and cased hole measurements using computer and physical modelling.  
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting Scientist and/or Project Manager in the analysis of client needs.
Design new products and the maintenance or modification of existing products.
Assisting in the provision of technical objectives' definitions and in the recommendation of methods of achieving required results.
Preparing design documentation using company methodologies.
Ensuring designs follow defined company policies.
Developing and designing applications for particular user definitions.
Developing computer models and experimental procedures.
Performing laboratory testing and analyzing results.
Inventing new tools and algorithms for the oil well Wireline logging industry.
Authoring technical papers and submitting patent disclosures on new ideas.
Developing and implementing new ideas and techniques and applying them to assigned tasks.
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
Understand and comply with all safety and environmental requirements and company policies of Weatherford.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

 SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work in a laboratory setting / hands-on experiments.
Proficiency in computer simulation software in acoustics, ultrasonics, electromagnetics and optics.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to author technical documents associated with oil well logging technology.
Ability to plan scheduled tasks within guidelines set by senior personnel.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common software development trade publications and technical journals.
Should be able to work closely with fellow employees.
Advance PHD degree in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering
Demonstrate expertise in design of experiments in acoustic and ultrasonic measurements for cased hole tools development.
Excellent numeric and analytical skills.
Optical sensor development
Basic understanding of ultrasonic wave propagation phenomena.
Basic understanding of diffraction spectroscopy analysis of optics and nuclear phenomena.
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
Preferred:
Experience and proficiency in 2D and 3D computer-based modelling and laboratory experimentation in acoustics, ultrasonics, optics and electromagnetics.
Valid driver's license.
