We at Jacobs have a significant commitment to the health and safety of all associates. To that end, we are looking to fill several roles for HSE Leaders to help us manage and guide our compliance and safety efforts. The roles which are available start at the Director level but may go higher depending on qualifications and assignment. Candidates may be based in Houston or Dallas but other geographic locations may also be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the HSE leadership and direction for the assigned Line of Business (LOB) or geography.
  • Works collaboratively or in the HSE&S COE in driving improved companywide safety performance
  • To lead by example and partner with other HSE (LOB) Directors within that geography to deliver sustained and improved safety performance
  • To be a visible and credible ambassador for BeyondZero, our culture of caring
  • Accountable to the HSE&S COE for the regulatory compliance with all laws and regulations for the locations within your assigned LOB or geography
  • Accountable for ensuring there is adequate provision for the on-boarding processes through which new employees, supply chain or third parties are introduced to our culture and the expectations associated across your area of responsibility
  • To provide support to other LOB HSE Directors to ensure a record of HSE training for all Jacobs employees, under their remit, is maintained and ready for third party audit
  • To promote the BeyondZero Global Safety Awards program and to recognize and reward positive safety performance.
  • Provide leadership on HSE advice and risk management procedures for the LOB project exposure
  • Identify projects which require to be identified to the HSE&S Watch list and ownership of delivery of solutions.
  • Derive and maintain a LOB risk register of HSE&S risks and their mitigation.
  • Direct the LOB internal audit program for HSE system & legal compliance.
  • Partner with business leaders in meeting their duty of care in relation to their legal obligations.
  • Oversee and ensure there is an effective return to work management procedure in place for post work related injury/illness.
  • Support and coach the development of the LOB approach to office/site and client based BeyondZero committees.
  • Provide assurance to the HSE&S COE that LOB risks are being managed effectively
  • To promote knowledge sharing and lessons learned across the whole business with a focus on the contribution from your assigned LOB or geography
  • To be an exemplary HSE professional demonstrating commitment to continued professional development.
  • To mentor HSE other Directors and participate in the growth of the profession
  • To contribute to and deliver the Jacobs Global HSE vision, objectives and strategic plan within your assigned LOB or geography
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timely production of the metrics for your LOB or geography
  • Own the leading metrics and analyses for your area of responsibility
  • Uphold and assess suitability of leading metrics and other areas of innovation in the pursuit of improving safety performance
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of Beyond Zero Academy for your LOB or geography
  • Responsibility for timely HSE incident reporting, that they are investigated to a high standard and classified correctly.
  • Monitor audit corrective action close out performance
  • Ensure High Value and other forms of learning are shared wisely

  • A relevant health and safety undergraduate or post graduate degree required or chartership from an accredited higher education institution
  • Fellowship recognition is desirable
  • At least 15 years of experience in HSE, 10+ years of which have been at the leadership level, most likely a Director or at a minimum a manager.
  • Able to influence and guide those others over whom you do not have direct control
  • Demonstrates a passion and commitment to the HSE profession

  • Operational, design safety, construction, maintenance HSE experience essential.
  • HSE experience in the US across a variety of markets preferably to include some of the following; oil and gas (must be mid or downstream), federal building program, national defense, private industrial, infrastructure and mining
  • Proven expertise in driving collaboration and behavioral programs and demonstrating improved safety performance on project sites.
  • Proven experience as a lead incident investigator.
  • Proven leader of teams of at least 25 HSE professionals preferred
  • Preferable industry experience across a range of engineering, design and construction disciplines
  • High level of knowledge and experience of HSE related legislation with its application to the industry essential.
  • Experience in HSE auditing practices required.
  • Highly competent with Microsoft Office Suite & other related software applications required.
  • Must demonstrate a stable job history and have been in your current organization for at least one year or more
  • Very competent communicator both written, verbal and in presentations
