Job Description
The subject of this research internship is related to pore-scale experiments using simple set-ups to try to discover why changing the salinity of the injected water can help producing more oil. The work is to be conducted in TOTAL's Laboratories in Pau, France. The student will perform simple core flood experiments using chromatographic columns, sand to mimic the reservoir core and crude oil. Brines at various salinities and pH will be injected at laboratory conditions and the recovery factor will be evaluated. The aim of this project is to improve the experimental set-up and protocol of these screening tests and to compare with real core flood experiments.
