Department
Vestas Mediterranean (MED) is an independent Sales Business Unit (SBU) within Vestas Wind Systems A/S, covering markets in the Mediterranean region, the Middle East, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Northwest Africa. Vestas MED is responsible for developing these markets in terms of sales, project installation, and customer service. Vestas has been operating on the Latin American market since 1992 with offices in México DF, Sao Paolo and Santiago de Chile. Wind farms are mainly located in Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Jamaica, República Dominicana, México and Argentina.

The Construction department is in charge of the construction of wind projects (EPC) and installation and commissioning of the wind turbines (supply & installation) under contracts sold by the sales department.

Responsibilities
Based in Mexico, the Construction Director main purpose is to lead and develop all the construction projects for the delivery of wind power solutions in Latin America (except Brazil), managing the projects portfolio with respect to cash flow and margin, whilst making sure the projects are on-time, and in conformity with the Contract obligations and Customer expectations.
Main Responsibilities
  • Secure world-class customer relationship, leading to increased customer satisfaction.
  • Involved in the tendering phase by delivering support to the Sales department (input to pre-calculations, scope & risk assessments, sites organization, negotiations, etc...)
  • Define the key objectives for each project including profitability, cash flow and time.
  • Ensure the establishment of the project execution vision & strategy, based on the contract, in order to achieve the project performance goals.
  • Define the project organizations with the required multi-disciplinary team, competencies and resources needed, making sure that roles and responsibilities are defined and people empowered.
  • Ensure that projects communication is adequately handled internally and externally.
  • Represent the organization towards Customers senior management, participate to internal and external events and meetings, including support to sales process, negotiations with suppliers and sub-contractors, relationships with key stakeholders, participation at marketing and technical events.
  • Make sure that a contract management plan is defined and implemented on each project, as well as a project quality plan, guaranteeing that both customer and Vestas obligations are fulfilled.
  • Make sure that Risk and Opportunities management is actively performed within the projects, including strategies, action plans and follow-up.
  • Guarantee the right reporting and forecasting of time progress and financial performance of each project with transparency, reliability and accuracy.
  • Strive for improving on-time and even early completion of the projects to maximize Customer satisfaction and financials.
  • Bring a culture of continuous improvement by developing methods and tools in a business-growing environment.
  • Controlling and coordinating the compliance with legal procedures, project signing and certification in order to meet the internal service agreements and to comply with regulations.
  • Coordinate and supervise communication, training and control of safety procedures related to installations, from awareness to auditing process in order to guarantee service level agreements and compliance with regulations.
  • Build, lead and coach the project management and construction team, defining goals and objectives, evaluating individual performance and development plans, motivating and optimizing the team workload (including support to hiring process).
  • Control the department operational costs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 year's experience in project management and construction, acquired in the wind industry or in the energy sector.
  • Preferably owner of an Engineering degree. An MBA will be also welcomed.
  • Experience in installation and EPC contracts, preferably export and international.
  • Financial and contract management skills.
  • Team & people management, including mentoring.
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English.
