Responsibilities
Junior Commercial Analyst
 
In this role, you'll be helping the AC team to maximise new business opportunities and carry out a variety of commercial activities of which the key responsibilities will be:
 
  • Income Forecasting.
  • Competitor analysis and monitoring the market for new opportunities.
  • Working on key commercial contracts.
  • Contributing to monthly reporting and planning.
  • Playing a key role in improving and implementing best practice models.
 
These activities will be carried out in conjunction with a number of teams/business units so you will also be developing your stakeholder management skills while gaining a broader understanding of the energy industry as a whole.
 
Junior Procurement Manager
In this role, you'll be helping procurement to maximise the Procurement Mission of "From Savings to Value" of which the key responsibilities will be:
 
  • Develop knowledge of and support implementation of the Procurement Management Instruction - GP3-28
  • Support Senior Category and Category Managers in delivering teams objectives
  • Develop negotiation skills to effectively engage with suppliers actively ensuring that cost effective procurement is achieved for the supply of goods and services
  • Supporting the team in actively managing its shared drives to ensure well organised and up to date management information
  • Develop a sound understanding of key SAP modules that impact procurement to provide administrative support to the team and its stakeholders
  • Assist the team with the preparation of reports on behalf of the team, including contract planning and work in progress
  • Take a pro-active approach to developing contractual and commercial skills to support the management of low value / risk contracts for services and goods
  • Support the team in its drive for excellent customer service
  • Monitor and report savings on behalf of the team
  • Be capable of preparing reports and presentations or managing databases / spreadsheets on behalf of the team
 
These activities will be carried out in conjunction with a number of teams/business units so you will also be developing your stakeholder management skills while gaining a broader understanding of the energy industry as a whole.
 
Business Audit Support
The key objectives of this role will be:
 
  • Working with a Business Auditor you will conduct at least one audit during the placement (potentially could be in UK, Sweden or Italy) , going out into the business to audit internal control systems and business processes, and provide recommendations to local management for improvements
  • Work with managers across the business to agree audit actions have been completed within agreed timescales.  Where this has not been achieved you will pro-actively chase managers to understand why actions have not been completed in a timely manner.
  • Work with Vice President Corporate Audit Northwest Europe to provide insight into audit recommendations and actions
  • Produce Board level reports and MI on a monthly basis
  • Manage and maintain the Corporate Audit Redis system
  • Liaise with Group Management in Essen to provide updates on UK/Swedish and Italian Audit performanceThe intership duration is 48 weeks.


Qualifications
Essential:
Junior Commercial Analyst, Junior Procurement Manager
  • Studying towards a 2:1 degree preferably in a numerate and/or finance discipline
  • High level of Numeracy
  • Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills
 
Business Audit Support
  • Solid relationship management skills and the ability to effectively influence
  • Well-developed strategic thinking skills, with ability to think laterally and demonstrate ability to identify the most appropriate course of action
  • Outstanding communication skills at all levels
 
Desirable:
Junior Commercial Analyst, Junior Procurement Manager
  • Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Understanding of the UK power and renewable energy market
  • An eye for spotting Commercial opportunities

Additional Information
The programme has a duration of 48 weeks.
The role can be located at Westwood, Coventry or Newstead, Nottingham.
