J51 SAB Campaign Assessment Analyst Job Description:

The SMEs shall support the assessment products and their associated venues (e.g., working groups, conferences, meetings, etc.); work with geographic combatant commands (CCMD), Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and Service Component assessment teams; and ensure appropriate and complete assessments are provided

Job duties shall include:
  • Support development of the Comprehensive Joint Assessment (CJA) which provides a common informational baseline and strategic picture to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Tasks include: provide support for initial CDRUSSOCOM guidance for the CJA to include providing a memorandum with proposed issues for him to consider; consolidate and synthesize initial inputs; coordinate with DoD, HQ USSOCOM action officers, and subordinate commands; and coordinate reviews.
  • Support development of the Campaign Assessment for Global Special Operations (CA-GSO) which measures how well USSOCOM is able to support defense guidance such as Guidance for the Employment of the Force (GEF) assigned objectives and GCC objectives. Tasks include: mentor SMEs within the command (military, civilian, and contractor); create and maintain the assessment process, methodology and framework for the CA-GSO; coordinate all inputs; and consolidate all SME input into the CJA.
  • Provide input to the Strategic Planning Process (SPP) Support, the Guidance, Planning, Capabilities, and Assessments Forum (GPCAF) which is USSOCOM's AO-level venue to discuss all key elements of actions going on at HQ USSOCOM and at the TSOCs and Service Components. Tasks include: coordinate location and SVTCs; prepare slides; draft agendas; and coordinate with the GPCAF briefers.
  • Support Assessments Exchange Workshops and/or site visits to subordinate commands.
  • Support development of the DOD Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Campaign Plan and Assessment (DOD CWMD), which provides a strategic assessment process to occur at least annually, that evaluates the effectiveness of the DOD CWMD Campaign Plan.
  • Provide assessment expertise and support including review of strategic documents.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: Master's Degree and four (4) years of SOF experience.

Required skills include:
  • 4 years of experience developing, producing and/or synchronizing strategic or campaign level assessments for 4-star Combatant Command(s) which includes 1 year of counter-terrorism assessment
  • 4 years as a staff officer or NCO in a major command or higher headquarters, and achieved Joint Professional Military Education level 1 (for former officers, this includes Army CGSC/ILE, Naval War College, Air Command and Staff College, Marine Command and Staff College; for former enlisted this includes Enlisted JPME courses), or a civilian or contractor in a major command or higher headquarters.

Must be willing to travel to various CONUS and OCONUS non-hazardous locations.



Must possess an active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility Clearance.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Work will be performed inside a large facility. Work assignments vary based on client requirements. Position could require some night and weekend work. Travel is required to various CONUS and OCONUS non-hazardous locations based on client requirements.

Physical Requirements

Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

Equipment and Machines

General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance

Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).

Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels. Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client's standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
