Role synopsis
  • Develop strategy and execute plans to provide Consumer lead information to the Retail Business that is relevant, timely and actionable
  • Lead the Retail global marketing insight team and oversee the team`s development of global insight frameworks and practices, ensuring business engagement at all levels while driving the synthesis, analysis and interpretation process to recommendation
  • Develop strategy and execute plans to infuse Customer data driven insights into Retail ways of working at large.
  • Develop strategy and delivers the Marketing efficiency improvement (Improved performance management for all Marketing programs through extended usage of customer data basis to benchmark each of the marketing invest options)
  • Develop Data feeds strategy and execute to ensure BP of sustained top quartile Customer analytics capability
  • Leads a team of 9 FTE


Key accountabilities
  • Develop and decide Customer Insights strategy and roadmap to strengthen insights capability across BP Retail. This includes completing inventory of current capabilities, gap identification and defining / leading delivery suite of initiatives to address the gaps
  • Deliver and decide suite of improvement programs linked to Global Insights strategy and roadmap;
    • Reviewing and adapting Market & competitiveness analytic strategy
    • Reviewing Segmentation strategy with in specific in depth integration of transaction based segmentation into management reporting
    • Developing new consumer analytics strategy for next 5 to 10 years
    • Reviewing and deciding on Insight agency strategy
  • Develop global insight framework from Strategy to delivery, including Capability development and stakeholder engagement at all levels, while delivering a constant stream of high value market and consumer insights targeted at agreed strategic levers.
  • Leveraging Top quartile customer transaction analytical capability to step change integration of insights in Decision making. Performance management and Product/offer development processes
  • Decide on Insights related Governance and processes (from agency selection to management of ad hoc researches)
  • Develop and decide on Data feeds strategy (prioritisation, Investment choices, data partnership, IT pipeline,...) and manage governance on behalf of Retail
  • Develop strategy and execute plans for initial key data sources and use cases :
    • BtoC cards / Co-branded / pre-paid card for Europe
    • Digital based data basis enrichment through differentiating partnerships and IT capabilities
    • On-going Marketing program performance / effectiveness benchmark using Big Data approach
  • Develop strategic data innovation pipeline and execute key selected opportunities
  • Lead and develops a team of 9


Essential Education
University degree in a research-related discipline required

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Excellent marketing / sales background gained within a Business-to-Consumer environment
  • Convenience retail / Fuels experience essential
  • Demonstrable track record in both qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Outstanding analytical skills and performance management skills
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent strategic insight, the ability to progress complex problems in a changing environment and align objectives with business strategy
  • Outstanding ability to extract strategic messages and engage varying audiences (From operations to SET Leadership) on complex matters arising from extremely detailed data sources.
  • Highly customer responsive
  • High level of interpersonal and team-working skills
