To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Civil Engineer/Scientist to assist with the analysis of current and future flood risk and in the development of outline and detailed design solutions for flood risk management. The post is based in our Leeds office, but the candidate will be expected to visit our other offices across the UK to collaborate on project work.

Primary Job Responsibilities

You will be working on projects for Local Authorities, the Environment Agency and some private sector clients and will support other technical disciplines within the company. Responsibilities include:
  • Assessment of flood risk and the development of flood risk assessments (levels 1 to 3)
  • Appraisal of flood risk costs and benefits
  • Drainage analysis and design
  • Identification and development of technical solutions to reduce flood risk
  • Preparation of technical analysis and notes
  • Working within an established design and appraisal
Essential:
  • Civil Engineering degree and working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant institution (or) a geography or scientific degree with evidence of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and practical experience of developing safe and buildable design solutions
  • Experience in the development of outline and detailed design solutions for flood risk management
  • Experience in the design and appraisal of riverine structural and non-structural measures
  • Experience in preparing business cases for flood risk management schemes
  • Experience of preparing Flood Risk Assessments
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members
  • Experienced in the use of AutoCAD and/or GIS
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable:
  • Experience of urban drainage design
  • Hydraulic design
  • Civils 3D CAD
  • GIS - Mapinfo/ArcView
  • Holds valid driving licence
