Jacobs has partnered with NASA to support space flight programs for more than 40 years and held the predecessor Engineering and Science Contract (ESC) since 2005. We look forward to continuing that work as the prime contractor for the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) contract along with our eleven teammate companies to provide engineering, scientific and technical contract services at NASA's Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX). JETS provides products and technical services related to human operations in space through development and integration of a broad spectrum of engineering requirements. This includes human spacecraft flight and flight development products, human exploration mission planning for NASA, institution support services, and new technology development. Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Senior Software Engineer.



The senior software engineer will:
  • Develop new code as well as modify existing code throughout different areas of the business as required.
  • Work with other developers and analysts on the product team.
  • Provide .NET programming utilizing MVC as well as JavaScript and Bootstrap to enhance UX.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experience. Require demonstrated and recognized technical expertise in specialty areas of engineering system design and analysis.
  • Strong programming skills spanning languages, frameworks, tools and techniques
  • Requires experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures to run against Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Must have at least 4+ years of ASP.NET/C# Development experience
  • Requires ability to work both independently and in a group environment


Preferences:
  • 8+ years of overall software development experience
  • Strong MSSQL and SSRS experience
  • Problem-resolution and decision-making skills
  • Capable of coordinating multiple projects concurrently
  • Able to prioritize and manage time


Other Qualifications:
  • Creative thinking, problem- solving, time- management and organizational skills
  • Support code from development through deployment, support and maintenance.
  • Ability to respond to fluid design requirements typical of version 1 software
  • Frontend experience; JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Knowledge of contemporary frameworks
  • Experience with cloud providers; AWS preferred
  • Displays a proclivity and passion for technology

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
