CH2M has an impressive and thriving Transport Planning business in the UK, with the responsibility of delivering a wide range of project work for strategic and local authority public sector clients. Our local clients include Transport Scotland, Glasgow City Council, City of Edinburgh Council and other Scottish local authorities through the Scotland Excel Framework. We also deliver work for strategic clients outside Scotland, such as Highways England, the Department for Transport, Transport for London, the National Transport Authority in Ireland, and key clients in our Middle East region.
 
As a Senior Transort Planner you will work with established transport modelling and scheme appraisal teams, with a strong forward workload and track record of success. The right candidate will work with these teams in delivering high profile projects for key clients, both locally and across the world. You will also be responsible for managing and developing the skills of transport planners and graduates, with an emphasis on transport modelling and scheme appraisal. 
 
Some of the key projects being delivered from our Glasgow office include:
• A9 Dualling, A82 Tarbet to Inverarnan upgrade, and Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route
• Transport Scotland's Traffic and Transport Advisor and Auditor (TTAA), Development Planning and Management Advisor and Auditor (DPMAA), and Design Standards Advisor (DSA) frameworks
• New bridge crossings for Glasgow City Council
• Lower Thames Crossing, A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon and Smart Motorway ITS programme for Highways England
• Transport planning services for High Speed 2 and Crossrail 2
• Development of bus rapid transit (BRT) schemes for the National Transport Authority in Ireland
• Traffic modelling and design services for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar and the Dubai Expo 2020
 
The role and responsibilities are:
• Management and technical delivery of road modelling and scheme appraisal projects
• Provision of technical advice to internal team members and clients
• Technical contributions to projects across the UK and further afield
• Training and mentoring of team members
• Quality assurance and peer review of traffic modelling and scheme appraisal work
• Contributions to work-winning
 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
 
You will offer us the following skills and experience:
• Evidence of being able to manage projects and tasks to an agreed scope of work and to time and budget requirements
• Knowledge of concepts, principles and theories of transport modelling and scheme appraisal
• Proven capability in the application of industry standard modelling software, including SATURN, VISSIM and PARAMICS
• Proven capability in data analysis
• Knowledge of industry standards and guidance including STAG, WebTAG and DMRB
• Good report writing skills
• Good communication skills, including an ability to communicate technical analysis to a non-technical audience
