The VTC Support Engineer provides technical leadership in the pursuit of complex VTC and related network technology projects.

Responsibilities

• Network architecture planning

• General analyses on network interoperability topologies, technologies, interfaces, and protocols

• Transport technology

• Business consultation including organizational alignment, business process development and business case development

• Network testing

• Network security

• Network reliability

• Prototyping and development of network solutions

• Communications focused software engineering or software development

• Provide technical lead management responsibilities for specific technology are associated with network architectures, i.e., network-architecture engineering and in-depth analyses on network interoperability and integration

• Provide lead specialty engineering and in-depth analyses on network interoperability, topologies, technologies, interfaces and protocols

• Provide leadership in defining and pursuing unified capabilities-related network technology research and development projects of significant complexity, requiring considerable originality and ingenuity

• Initiate and carry out independent work on specific tasks associated with the implementation of specific aspects of network technology projects

• Manage the implementation of specific aspects of network architecture planning

• Capable of independent original work on specific tasks associated with one or more knowledge areas identified above

Required Experience:
  • Active Secret security clearance

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive, relevant experience, or and MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and two (2) to five (5) years or progressive experience.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience across the entire project life cycle
  • Related industry experience in information technology or engineering
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office Tools; specifically Excel and Project
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with DISA


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work Environment:

Desk/office work and test area work. As necessary, must be able to travel to other work areas, be aware of safety requirements for those areas, and work within those constraints. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with DISA safety standards.

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing and use of stairs. Periodically required to lift and hold up to 15-20 pounds.

Equipment and Machines:

Computer work required. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is required.

Attendance:

Attendance and punctuality are essential in this highly collaborative environment. Overtime work may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. Must maintain site access to DISA work facilities and computer systems.
