JOB SCOPE:
The Well Engineer is responsible for the design, planning and support of integrating Weatherford's well construction technologies and drilling solutions and post drilling analysis within complex wells on a global basis. The Well Engineer will work closely with the subsurface disciplines, well systems and regulatory to come up with the safest and most efficient plans to drill a well meeting all expectations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement and assist with development of Well Engineering solutions for projects working with our clients' prospect teams to realize ideas and plans thru the Well Engineering and Project Management process
Implementation and assist with development of fully embed performance enabling methods such as Drilling the Limit, Drilling Optimization, best practices, peer reviews and technology application in the planning and execution of Weatherford's well solutions
Ensure all wells are budgeted, planned & designed to minimum standards, regulatory requirements, policies and full consideration of HSE & sustainability goals
Translate plans to reality by managing the contributions of Weatherford's products and services as well as third party vendors, coordinating well material and providing oversight of client site support of planned operations as required
Learn and understand the technical and/or business initiative that furthers the capabilities of the client's Drilling Team(s)
Document and communicate learning from projects through Weatherford's Project Management system
Support our clients in delivering wells on time and budget meeting all success measures
Perform Hydraulic and Torque & Drag analysis on basic and common wells to design effective methods in order to deploy drilling & completion tools to ensure trouble-free installations
Facilitating short term planning and scheduling of personnel, equipment and services
With minimal support and supervision, perform offset well analysis as well as casing and tubing design for common projects
Develop and review well programs, operating procedures, presentations, end-of-well reports and other documentation as required to support effective communication and Continuous Improvement
Provide assistance with the development of time estimates and comparisons with AFE
Assist senior personnel with matters related to Well Control
Participate in the selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment
With respect to communication, act as the lead for Weatherford and ensure information is exchanged effectively with all parties (client, segments, third parties, etc).
Keep up to date and reviews new technology for possible application to projects
Support continuous improvement by using Weatherford systems to circulate information about best practices, lessons learned, technical alerts, etc.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability and willingness to learn through a structured development program which includes internal and external courses, external certifications and practical on the job training (both office and field)
Ability to organize and plan projects. Projects will often have technical and scope uncertainties and involve multiple phases and tight project timelines
Practical and results orientated to deliver a plan encompassing all inputs that can be safely executed. Mechanical aptitude and strong visualization capability required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse professionals comprising of clients, stakeholders, vendors, operations team, rig team and engineering peers
Contribute to sustaining a positive, progressive and supportive team environment
Ability to get away from the traditional approach of applying specialty products (widgets) to wells and apply and encourage a solution based approach. Solution based involves understanding the client needs and well problems and then investigating potential solutions which can be a change in well design, change in procedure or potentially the use of one or more common or specialty products.
Detailed understanding of drilling practices and procedures (planning, risk analysis, HAZOP, HAZID, pre-spud, roles of various asset team members, equipment, drilling program, drilling, cementing, evaluation, completion, reporting, wellsite personnel, drilling parameters, fluids, well control, directional drilling, wellsite services, local regulatory, etc.)
Must have legal authorization to work on a full-time basis in the US region
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited University (or diploma/certificate with relevant work experience as described below)
Degree with minimum 5-years upstream oil & gas related experience; (or 9 - 10 years equivalent experience)
Experience and openness to proactively work across PSL boundaries to visualize, engineer and deliver cross PSL drilling hazard mitigating solutions. Thorough understanding of 2 or more Weatherford product lines
Experience as a senior project team member on 8 or more projects which involved overseeing other team members or being responsible for a critical aspect of the project
Must be willing to travel to remote land and offshore work locations and possibly to other countries. Ability to travel 30 to 50% annually and work for durations up to 28 days per trip.
