CH2M is seeking an experienced Claims Manager to perform in a fast paced high energy team environment, supporting the Project Team in the execution of Alternative Finance and Procurement (AFP) contract administration activities on a large Light Rail Transit project.

Under limited supervision, using independent judgment, you will manage claims and disputes from Project Co in accordance with the Project Agreement and all company standards and contractual requirements. You should be fluent in contract administration systems (e.g. CM14) with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience within major transit infrastructure projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works within the Contract Administration team and accountable to the Project Agreement Manager
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in all aspects of claims management
  • Successfully manage the relationships between Project Co, the Project Team, and Project Controls functions including, estimating, planning/scheduling, cost control, and risk management
Role Specific Tasks and Competencies:
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive claims documentation within the contract administration software
  • Investigate, evaluate, and provide recommendations for the settlement of claims
  • Provide position papers to recommend solutions to contractual issues
  • Provide detailed evaluation of potential claim impact to the Project Management team
  • Provide summary reports to Executive Management
  • Liaison with client legal team
  • Understanding of alternative dispute resolution techniques
Project Delivery Knowledge:
  • Project delivery using AFP, P3, or design/build methodology
Resources/Capabilities:
  • Highly responsive and ability to act quickly under changing circumstances
  • Commercially astute
  • Highly organized and ability to process and efficiently manage numerous claim
  • Effectively and positively influence Client and Stakeholder team members to comply with claims process as set out in the Project Agreement
 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Communication:
  • Excellent written and presentation communication skills
  • Highly effective negotiation skills
  • Positive influencing skills
Systems:
  • Good understanding and practical application of contract administration and document management software, CM14 and Aconex are preferred


The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, project management, business admin. or related legal
Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience of major project claims management with demonstrable successful resolution in favor of the Client
  • Comprehensive experience of the administration of major construction contracts


Salary: $190,000 - $205,000 CAD annually
