Looking for candidates for Legacy Alstom Generator Services Application & Requisition Engineers

Essential Responsibilities

As the Legacy Alstom Generator Services Application & Requisition Engineer, you may:
For ITO Support (Tendering) activities:
• Own the overall technical proposal - each AE produces about 70 cmu proposals per year as well as a few longer term projects such as simplification projects. CMU Proposals include Liquid Cooled Stator Rewinds, Replacement Fields, Conventional Stator Rewinds, Field Rewinds, Uprates , Auxiliary and Excitation Upgrades and others.
• Be the Voice of the Customer and Engineering.
• Create and coordinate overall engineering deliverables in proposals such as the parts scope of supply and performance design. Provide input for costing and cycle of parts.
• Integrate with Commercial Operations, Sales, PGS Project Management, various Engineering teams, Manufacturing and Sourcing, Vendors, Service Shops and other teams as necessary.
• Keep attention to the overall project schedule and due dates.
• Support customer sales and proposal meetings, State of the Art Conferences, GE and Industry conferences.
• Improve the effectiveness of the office by recommending/establishing procedures and records, sharing experiences with co-workers etc.
• Support other team members, domestic and global, technically, and personally, upholding the highest moral and integrity standards.
• Provide timely and accurate responses to technical inquiries using technical files (such as Design Data, Previous Reports, etc.), personal experience and knowledge and information from other technical experts as necessary.
• Assist in the training of Legacy Alstom, Legacy GE and non-GE personnel in generator technology in the office, at seminars, at on site visits and other miscellaneous meetings. A critical part of this role will be providing guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Ability to promote and integrate new products and services into our proposals, explain the value to our customers.

For OTR Support. During project execution
• Own the overall technical CMU order handling the proposal you worked or somebody else did during the ITO phase
• Must demonstrate ownership in difficult circumstances and show a sense of urgency to get things done according to expectations of Customer and business
• Be the Voice of the Customer to Engineering and vice versa.
• Create and coordinate overall engineering and drafting deliverables via PLM activities (Product Lifecycle Management)
• Integrate with PSE (Power Services Engineering) Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sourcing, Vendors, Service Shops and other teams as necessary to support customer outage on time, scope and cost.
• Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, project schedule progress and budgeted hours.
• Support customer meetings, State of the Art Conferences, GE and Industry conferences
• Improve the effectiveness of the office by recommending/establishing procedures, work instructions and records, sharing lessons learned and experiences with co-workers etc.
• Support other team members, domestic and global, technically, and personally, upholding the highest moral and integrity standards
• Provide timely and accurate responses to technical guidance to internal/external inquiries using technical files (such as Design Data, Previous Reports, etc.), personal experience, knowledge and information from other technical experts as necessary
• Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
• Coach & mentor to less experienced engineers through sharing the applicability on Generator components, assemblies and systems knowledge.
• Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
• Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
• Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electric Power Engineering or any other related engineering degree from an accredited university or college with minimum of 9 years of professional experience valuable for the position.
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in Generator engineering / Technology, product service, power generation product engineering or related functions within the power generation industry.
• Important areas of desired expertise : electromagnetic performance, rotor design, hands on service/installation/testing experience, auxiliary design,
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time to customer sites and GE Shops to enable work execution.
• English skills: Excellent written, oral and listening comprehension both in Spanish & English.
• Communication in English must have a High / Intermediate level (Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day conversation on any topic)
• Strategic and clear thinking to translate discrete and complex ideas to business driven results.
• Presentation Skills: ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
• Demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions.

Desired Characteristics

• Graduate Degree in an engineering discipline from accredited university
• Domain expertise in power services and equipment for Legacy Alstom Generator and its accessory systems
• Knowledge and understanding of Legacy Alstom & Legacy GE's and competitors products' capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to develop offerings that meet internal and external customer needs
