We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team working on a highly visible multi-generation ERP implementation project in support of business transformation of GE Power and the integration of Alstom. This role will develops plans, estimates and resource models for initiatives within GE's SAP PMx Program. Works with multiple stakeholder groups within the GE Power to gather inputs and formulate a consistent and data-driven approach to planning, estimating, and resource modeling.

Essential Responsibilities

The Sr. Staff Technical Prg. Manager- Planning and Estimating will:

  • Acts as the centralizing point between GE Power SAP Solution, the future roadmap, and the current requirements of the GE Business.
  • Gather inputs, create, and maintain baseline estimates and resource plans for upcoming GE PMx Integration initiatives - both capability releases and deployments.
  • Day to day supervision of a junior solution analyst responsible for managing, updating, and populating estimating models.
  • Support integration of outputs from the estimating and planning process into GE demand management (DM) and delivery tools (e.g. JIRA, Solution Manager, and EPM).
  • Create detailed staffing plans that reflect GE guidelines for resource leveling, contractor management, and allocation between business units within their areas of responsibility.
  • Works closely with the GE Power Design and Delivery COE teams to align estimates across multiple efforts to create efficiencies, rationalize demand, and create 3, 6, 12, 24-month planning horizon estimates of work.
  • Works closely with the GE Power P&L Deployment teams to marry estimates for development and deployment initiatives.
  • Provides planning support and estimates to GE business deployment teams to assist them in their independent planning and capacity management efforts.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required






Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or Engineering or 4 years of IT Technical experience
  • Minimum 8 years of IT professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Software Development Project Management including project and financial management leading cross functional initiatives and/or large global projects

  • Extensive hands-on delivery experience of a full life-cycle SAP Project (either through delivery, project management/governance or estimating role)
  • Ability to employ appropriate estimating techniques (e.g. Agile / Waterfall, FTE / Factor Based) to create detailed estimates and release plans
  • Microsoft Office- Good abilities in other Microsoft Office suite tools (esp. Word, Powerpoint)
  • Proven experience with intermediate (R) and advanced (D) Microsoft Excel functions: Intermediate: Basic Pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting, Functions (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF, IFERROR, etc.), Advanced: Advanced Pivot table functions (calculated fields, conditional formatting within pivot), macros, security
  • Strong mathematical ability
  • Demonstrate knowledge of business' structure (P&Ls) and the interplay of functions to support business goals; demonstrate knowledge of the business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.
  • First-hand experience with modern IT development processes, e.g., supporting agile and iterative development and experience with Agile Development terminology and Methods
  • Self-motivated and self-managing
  • Must be able to create plans for achieving outcomes from planning efforts along with leading and organizing planning cadences with various parties
  • Develops, motivates and directs staff to create a team environment
  • Responsible for partnering with Project Managers to define and refine project scope and delivery plans to align with estimated demand and capacity
  • Proven experience leading meetings with stated objectives and outcomes. Ability to follow-through on tasks and outcomes from meetings
  • Ability to create structured analysis, priorities, and recommendations which will be used to influence the planning decisions of the GE Power IT Organization
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Atlanta, Georgia
