We are looking for a Product Manager - Digital Power Generation (m/f). As the Product Manager for Digital Power Generation at GE Distributed Power, you will lead product development of a digital product solution set aimed at improving reliability, efficiency, and cost of operation for power industry customers operating reciprocating engines.

Essential Responsibilities

You will be responsible for uncovering unmet business and user needs, translating these needs into product requirements for development team, setting development priority, supporting market strategy, and serving as teacher and advocate for your digital products. You will lead by building a deep understanding for customer needs, prioritized by customer value. Through market research and close collaboration with key customers and solution architects, you will convert unmet customer needs and your strategy into executable product development backlogs, and ultimately quality, cost and delivery of your solution portfolio, a set of capabilities which are essential to increase value for our customers and our success.

As part of Distributed Power Digital Solutions team, you will be accountable for:

  • Defining and managing requirements backlog and roadmap for multiple Digital product offerings targeting power and co-generation.
  • Maintaining a multi-generational product plan, prioritized roadmap and functional requirements for Digital Power and Heat product portfolio.
  • Define and communicating product requirements, execute the product management processes and be a product expert.
  • Work cross functionally across engineering, marketing, sales, customer support, and external customers to deliver the roadmap.
  • Leverage overall portfolio and product strategy to create a detailed product plan tailored for balancing internal impact and customer facing applications.
  • Establish tradeoffs between competing interests and requirements to produce an achievable roadmap and Agile release cycles. Aligns goals, feature sets, capabilities to business objectives for the product (i.e. Profitability, ROI, Market Penetration, OEM [inbound/outbound], Brand Development, etc.) Identifies and make recommendations for Buy Vs Build Vs Partner opportunities and presents what-if scenarios to broader product and services team.
  • Synthesizes and prioritizes across customers' wants and needs, balancing them with company capabilities.
  • Build and maintain a strong working partnership with GE Digital teams, Distributed Power's Engineering and Information Technology teams, especially where Distributed Power solutions integrate with new and existing platforms to drive asset performance management, operations optimization and business optimization.
  • Establish strong working relationship with technical sales and user/developer community
  • Provide recommendations and drive end-user research to define how to improve user experience and capabilities.
  • About 15% of the time to travel within US and globally.
  • Location: Austria/Netherlands


    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), or equivalent technical experience
    • Significant experience with industrial controls and/or digital-industrial related technologies
    • Fluent English language skills

    According to Austrian law job postings need to include the minimum salary for a position. For this position the minimum salary based on the collective agreement is EURO 3.099,59 gross monthly. Please note that this is the very minimum salary and will most likely be higher. The effective salary is based on the candidate's Qualification and Experience and will be negotiated accordingly.

    Desired Characteristics

    • Product or project management experience
    • Software industry experience with proven track record
    • Experience in power generation industry
    • Fluent German language skills are a plus
    • MBA or Product Management Degree
    • Experience working with the power generation industry with a knowledge of the customer needs, perspectives, and challenges
    • Versatile active listening skills with ability to empathize, maintain an open mind, and ask questions, that draw out the perspective of customers and other persons
    • Experience with Agile and other Software Development methodology experience
    • Able to leverage knowledge about industry trends, competitors, and changing regulations across the broad environment to advance the product portfolio
    • Collaborates effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., software development, data science, user experience, business teams, etc.) and identifies the interconnections between them
    • Engages with project-related problems and questions in a disciplined and rigorous manner
    • Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings and considers business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations)
