As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading back end efforts for an agile software development team with focus on new innovative software solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for programming a feature and or a small feature set. You will contribute to the success of the team and mentor the junior team members.
  • Act as a member of the GE Renewables Software Development team, representing the face of high quality design and development practices.
  • Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software and user experience engineers
  • Work with product owners across the businesses to understand market needs & vision; quickly translate that vision into demonstrable software
  • Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes
  • Work with product owners and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans
  • Work directly with customers to understand business and technical needs
  • Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
  • Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
  • Keep project data relating to tracking and financials current
  • Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities
  • Plan and manage budgets related to scope of team
  • Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in enterprise application development OR Master's degree with 3 years of experience in enterprise application development.Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in New Orleans, LA

    Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
  • Hands-on experience in web services (REST, SOAP, WSDL etc.), Maven, SQL Database such as Oracle MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.
  • Hands-on experience in utilizing Spring Framework (Core, MVC, Integration and Data)
  • Hands-on experience with web development using HTML5, Java Script, jQuery, CSS. Experience with Play framework, Angular is a big plus.Business Acumen
