Job Overview:

CB&I currently have an opening for an on-call Environmental Technician for Orange County and Los Angeles County areas. This is primarily a field based position supporting our industrial storm water programs.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory
  • Calibrating and using technical instruments
  • Work will consist of straightforward tasks using established procedures, with the potential for solving routine problems as encountered.
  • The Technician will be expected to apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete the assigned work and will be expected to manage his/her own time to meet deadlines set by others.
  • Develop and maintain records either manually or by computer method
  • Performs field inspections, evaluates site conditions during sampling, and documents results (visual and written)
  • May make recommendations for improvements
Basic Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in industrial storm water sampling or related field experience required.
  • Local travel is required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check.
  • Must be able to work independently at active industrial client sites
  • Must be able to work in the field in all types of field conditions/weather, including during rain storms
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma, technical school and/or some college.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable health and safety regulations
  • Certified in CPR and first aid
  • Applies knowledge and skills to complete own work.
  • Lifting and physical work may be required.
  • Some overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • 40-hour OSHA-HAZWOPER training
  • Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) and/or Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner (QiSP)
