Senior Electrical Engineer - Leading Engineer Company - Liverpool

Responsibilities:

Our increasing workload from a range of challenging local, national and international projects has given us the opportunity to expand our Mechanical and Electrical team across the UK.

We require an experienced Electrical Engineer to deliver consultancy services to new and current clients. This is a stimulating opportunity to work within a vibrant and experienced team where you will be given early responsibility and the chance to work with a prestigious group of clients. You will work together with other engineers in different part of the UK and the world to deliver these projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in equipment inspection, specification and the design of electrical equipment and cabling systems. Flexibility, dynamism and the ability to contribute towards the development of our growing team are imperative qualities to ensure that our M&E group continues to thrive.

You will be responsible for:

Meet and liaise with clients to discuss ongoing and future projects.

Carry out design tasks which includes the production of drawings, calculations, specifications, reports and cost estimates associated with electrical equipment and infrastructure (LV and HV, lighting designs etc.) principally for maritime engineering projects, i.e. container terminals, bulk and cargo terminals, shipyards, naval bases, linkspans, passenger walkways, lock and dock gates, swing or lift bridges or similar moving type structures.

Liaise with clients, project directors and other project team members. These project team members may be located in other offices throughout the world.

Plan, co-ordinate, manage, organise and execute work packages.

Undertake inspections and production of condition survey reports.

Site supervision.

Share knowledge and expertise.

Be aware of client needs and focus on client satisfaction.

Identify new opportunities for the M&E Team and the Company.

Develop further M&E business within the UK and internationally.

Assist in the identification of new and relevant opportunities and contribute towards winning new work.

Undertake continuous professional development to satisfy the IET.

Undertake such duties as to comply with Statutory and Legislative duties such as that required by CDM, Electricity at Work Regulations, Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations and PUWER.

Undertake and manage work around commercial constraints and pressures.

Maintain ongoing oversight of projects with regards to the production of deliverables to meet the programme deadlines and their financial impact to produce positive result for the work scope.

Possess a willingness to develop skills in HV design and modelling.

The role will be based in Liverpool; however you will need to be flexible and able to work elsewhere in the UK and overseas for short periods as required.

Requirements:

BEng (Hons) or MEng in Electrical Engineering

Attainment of, or working towards professional registration with the Engineering Council UK (ECUK) at Chartered (CEng) level leading to Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

Petrochemical/Ports or Maritime/Design Consultancy/Construction/Chemical or Nuclear

Knowledge and practical experience of:

HV and LV electrical installations

Current BS and IEC standards

Application of key M&E EU and UK legislation

Knowledge and practical experience of one or more of the following design tools would be an advantage:

AMTECH ProDesign, IPSA, ETAP, SKM

Experience in commercial and contractual matters
