We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Adv Project Manager within WEC Carolina Energy Solutions, LLC (CES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company, based in Rock Hill, SC.  CES is a leader in supplying welding and machining services to the nuclear and other industries.  In this position, a project manager can expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Project management of welding and machining shop and field projects using various craft labor and supervision personnel
  • Lead and direct all necessary project resources and needs (personnel, training, equipment, vendors, sub-contractors, etc.) consistent with safety, regulatory, quality, productivity and financial requirements for ; assure compliance and monitor personnel and area to observe unfavorable trends; alert support personnel to discrepancies and solicit support as necessary.
  • Complete all aspects of planning process including developing scope, schedule, and procedures.
  • Oversee the development of cost estimates and offers for operating plants support and modifications. Support and/or drive customer negotiations.
  • Control project costs while maximizing optimum performance to meet project requirements.
  • Identify delays and scope changes and document on Project Impact Notices (PIN) forms and submitted as required
  • Ensure practice, personally and from crew, of ALARA principles and a "Safety First" attitude as an integral part of all activities. Conduct safety walk downs, meetings, etc. as appropriate. Demonstrate and promote good house- keeping practices in work areas.
  • Coach field workers on proper work practices to include radiological, Human Performance and field observations.  Reinforce company goal of zero accidents.
  • Responsible for reviewing the accuracy of craft worker timesheets and submitting them to payroll for processing in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Project Quality Plan and all other applicable procedures/codes i.e., hold points, weld travelers, work instruction documents.
  • Initiate a focus on creative problem solving and apply analytical skills to issues to initiate proper corrective action.
  • Maintain all daily shift logs and status reports; ensure reports are communicated in a timely manner to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, representing the company in a professional manner to ensure future work
  • Properly close project by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools. Perform final project quality assessment and report out. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons, and risk avoidance for future work.
  • Use interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team, customer, and other stakeholders (e.g., internal management) in a matrix environment to facilitate successful project completion as well as identify opportunities for additional business growth.
  • Identify, assess, and implement improvement or recovery opportunities that will promote successful project delivery.

Job Requirements

The  successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related technical discipline required. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with at least 3 years as project manager leading and directing low to moderate complexity projects to successful completion (3 years in technical/engineering role and 2 years as project manager may be considered as equivalent); 3 or more years of experience as project manager in a technical industry such as engineering, manufacturing, nuclear or construction is preferred.
  • Familiar with the Project Management Institute (PMI®)'s Project Management Body of Knowledge required. PMI Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification or other approved equivalent project management certification is required.
  • Westinghouse Project Manager qualification completed. For external candidate, will complete project manager qualification within designated time period. Exemptions provided based on prior training and work experience.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, such as effective verbal and written communications; ability to lead team members; ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and ability to make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned, with minimal guidance from supervisory Project Managers and mentors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Office tools. Knowledge and skill of project scheduling and cost management.
  • Demonstrated ability or understanding of the transformation of data to information for visual reports; database concepts in order to manage data within systems; the interaction of company functions that are touch points to projects (Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.). High-quality presentation skills.
  • Experience with SAP, Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, and Active Risk Manager Software tools is a plus.
