Department Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers.
As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

The Senior Gas Transmission (GT) Construction Manager is responsible for construction and improvement projects in the gas transmission system. The GT Construction Manager prepares project inspection estimates, oversees project inspectors, and provides oversight for quality control personnel on internally constructed projects. The GT Construction Manager ensures projects are
completed per company standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, and permits.


- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience fieldwork in Industrial Engineering or Construction
- 7 years working experience fieldwork in Industrial Engineering or Construction.
- Knowledge of carbon steel and alloy piping materials, welding processes, procedures and standards used on Gas Transmission Pipelines, compressor and power generating stations.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P3/P5/P6 scheduling software, and Primavera UNIFIER or similar software
- Demonstrated abilities in cost accounting, contract administration, and project scheduling
- Demonstrated abilities in project inspection and quality control
- Demonstrated knowledge in Gas Transmission/Distribution/Conveyance Pipeline Construction; with knowledge of compressor station or similar complex facility construction.


- Applies advanced knowledge of professional and technical concepts to projects in multiple disciplines such as civil, electrical, process instrumentation and pipeline construction management.
- Attends job scope walk downs with PG&E Engineers and Project Managers, leads job scope discussions with Gas Operation Supervisors, conducts preliminary job site visits, and solicits input on the constructability and contractibility of proposed projects.
- Reviews RFP's to confirm financial data submitted from the contractor matches the job scope.
- Utilizes workload management database and updates assigned projects.
- Assist career level employees with system usage and reviewing workload analysis reports.
- Enforces project environmental/land permit conditions and all safety regulations.
- Assists in the pre-construction project cycle, accompanies team on project walks and offer constructability reports when tasked.
- Coordinate both construction project kick off meetings, PG&E procured material deliveries, meet with governing agencies/ municipalities to manage and enlist compliance with permitting regulations.
- Leads weekly construction progress meetings and publishes meeting notes with field records on a project basis.
- Maintains a positive relationship with construction superintendents and project managers in addition to providing updates to them as part of the project construction team.
- On a limited basis, and as designated, provides mentoring to Associate and Career level employees.
