The Maintenance Crew Lead will serve as the on site single point of contact for the Maintenance work crew. The Maintenance Crew Lead will direct the work of crews based on job criteria including size of crew, work complexity, and any applicable state or federal requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform rigging, bolt-up craft work including all phases of advanced maintenance work.
  • Installation of piping spools and miscellaneous mechanical components
  • Perform Journeyman craft work including installation of various types and sizes of piping spools
  • Adhere to material requirements and specifications; identify all materials related to piping, structural and architectural designs
  • Estimate and perform material take-offs needed for the performance of mechanical maintenance
  • Interpret pipeline P&ID's, piping specifications and codes, and blue-print ISO drawings
  • Lead work crews, providing daily supervision and direction in accordance with Team Leader expectations
  • Assign mentors to new crew members and verify that mentoring process is followed, completed and documented
  • Will be responsible for recording and reporting daily labor hours to foreman or timekeeper
  • Continually seek and implement Safety & work process improvements
  • Examine work and materials for compliance with job and safety specifications
  • Perform safety and productivity observations including shop, field, and vehicle inspections; ensuring that all incidents are promptly reported
  • Attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training
  • Promote safe work practices and implement company and client safety policies for work crew, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation
  • Demonstrate support for the company's environmental management system
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge and understanding of insulation materials, piping supports, pipeline and facility operations
  • Competent mechanical skills, including ability to use tools and equipment applicable to petrochemical operation
  • Knowledge in fabrication, assembly, handling, installation, dismantling, adjustment, alteration and repair of all piping and structural fabrication
  • Knowledge of technical and safety policies, procedures and standards applicable to the maintenance craft
  • Ability to communicate clear direction to work crews, management and client representatives
  • Ability to work as part of a team with fellow workers and your alternate
  • Well versed in operations and safety practices and policies
  • Must be a competent rigger
  • Advanced knowledge of all of the following: mechanical piping, structural and scaffold disciplines including bolt up, rigging, pipefitting/installation
  • Basic hand/power tool knowledge
  • Advanced ability to interpret mechanical drawings & P&ID
  • Ability to interpret work instructions
  • OSHA Competent Scaffold Builder
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Basic knowledge of piping insulation
  • Ability to operate vehicles (i.e. box van, flatbed)
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead Maintenance crews

  • Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to waist level x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to shoulder level x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to crown level x 2 with a 12 second interval. Repetitive lift of 40 lbs x 10 to shoulder level, self-paced but continuous, with 12 second intervals allowed between lifts
  • Carry 32 lbs with two hands for 150 feet, allow a 60 second rest break then lift and carry 50 lbs for 50 feet, self-paced but continuous
  • Shovel 5 minutes self-paced and continuous. *See shoveling test instructions at the end of the document
  • Stair Climb and Carry: While carrying 35 lbs with one hand and holding onto a railing with the other hand for safety, walk up and down 25 steps x 2 for a total of 50 steps, self-paced but continuous. Allow a 60 sec. rest break after climbing up and down 25 steps
  • Slanted Ladder: Climb up and down 12 rungs x 5 for a total of 60 rungs, self-paced but continuous. Allow a 60 second rest break after climbing up and down 30 rungs
  • Repetitive Kneel Test: Perform from standing, kneel on one knee, alternate from left to right knee x 5 each knee
  • Repetitive Stoop Test: Perform from standing position, bend forward at waist as far as possible without bending the knees with hands reaching toward the floor x 5, self-paced but continuous
  • Repetitive Squat Test: Perform a functional squat and stand x 5
  • Twist and Flex Test: Perform from standing alternate toe touches x 5 to each side to assess ability to twist and flex the trunk repetitively
  • Shovel test instructions will be provided at time of Fit for Duty
 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
  • One (1) year of experience working in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical piping, structural and scaffold , rigging, bolt up, pipefitting installation required
  • Two (2) years of Field Maintenance experience required
  • Valid driver's license including ability to be insured by CH2M's auto insurer required
    High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • One or more of the following equipment certifications required: telehandler (zoom boom), forklift, loader, manlift within 90 days of hire required
    Completion of: scaffold inspection competent person training within 90 days of hire required
     


The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Facility & field mechanical experience preferred
  • RAT Certification preferred
  • Sheet metal, scaffold experience preferred
