As the Campus Security Officer - Part Time, you will perform security duties associated with GE Schenectady campus.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Campus Security Officer - Part Time, you will:
  • Complete all required training and maintain all required certification(s) for all aspects of security protection
  • Respond to on-site emergencies
  • Maintain effective campus access controls
  • Perform other security related functions as directed

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current State of New York Security Guard License (must have completed the 16 hour course)
  • To the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned / leased or rented vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record
  • Fluency in the English Language
  • Ability and willingness to walk and stand for extended periods of time in the course conducting of daily duties
  • Ability and willingness to climb and descend stairs
  • Ability and willingness to work part-time

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

    Desired Characteristics

  • Ability and willingness to complete written reports accurately
  • Ability to willingness to communicate effectively in English in all oral and written communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
  • Have general knowledge of how to use Internet Resources
  • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security, or other criminal justice discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Previous law enforcement or security experience
  • First Aid / AED / CPR certification
  • Experience with 2-way radio use
  • Call taking / dispatching experience in an emergency and service related environment
  • Experience in conducting minor criminal investigations
  • Experience in conducting Motor Vehicle Accident Investigations (Basic Level)
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, oral and written
  • Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion
  • Be a self-starter and work independently when required
