The Design Liaison Engineer, Wind Structures will work directly with casting and fabricated parts
Suppliers to disposition parts ensure timely cut-in of engineering changes, and ensure design intent of the components is being met. The Structures team is responsible for hub, bedplate,
generator frame, down tower assembly, catwalks, cable trays, axis panel mounts and other similar
Structures. Position will primarily be located in São Paulo, Brazil and report to the Manager of
Wind Structures.

Essential Responsibilities

• Act as on-site liaison between design engineering and supplier
• Timely disposition of supplier deviations to support continued production
• Work cross-functionally with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, planning, field support and others to improve first time yield.
• Work with design engineering and quality organizations in issue resolutions and corrective action implementation.
• Ensure timely cut-in of engineering changes in design and work instructions
• Support improved manufacturing methods for components to enhance robustness and manufacturability of designs
• Qualify suppliers, support manufacturing issues, and disposition deviations from drawings
• Work with design engineers, customers, functional leaders, and manufacturing to meet production and product support requirements.
• Support cost-out and new technology introduction
• Awareness of competing technologies & components in the wind market


• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering
• Proven communication skills in both written and oral English
• Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
• Willingness to travel

Desired Characteristics

• Master's Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering
• GE Business tools and practices expertise
• Solid understanding of general physics and mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Wind turbine experience
• Structural, welding and/or casting design or manufacturing experience
• Working Communication skills in Portuguese
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (GE Employees only)
