His scope of responsibility covers the industrial engineering, the industrialization of new products, the management of manufacturing assets, the maintenance of machines and facility, the continuous improvement of performance through TPM and Lean Manufacturing.

Essential Responsibilities

The ME Manager is in charge of developing and implementing competitive and sustainable conditions for manufacturing.
He is responsible for technical standards and documentation, improvement of capability and performance of production means, relationship with engineering department through efficient feasibility reviews and feedback of experience.
As Manager, he will be responsible for defining competencies and headcount related to his activity, recruiting and developing technical teams, motivating people and setting individual objectives.
He pays particular attention to Environment, Health and Safety of people, assets and products, in all activities. He will be in charge of implementing and continuously improving organisations and processes related to his following responsibilities by:
Preparing, implementing and improving manufacturing and logistics standards
- lead industrial engineering processes and develop standards, including hours for tendering and planning, check-lists and verification points in the industrial engineering , visual management of the industrial engineering activity
- Implement standardized work for the workshop, standard flow of production, set-up standards, verification points, process capability control plan...
- Build structured and formalized feedback of experience to improve existing processes (for projects, products, check-lists, time per operation....)
Preparing the production of new projects and components (hours per operation, logistics, work instructions...)
- Answer to requests for quotation during tendering phase
- Proactively contribute to the feasibility reviews - meetings, check-lists... and make it visible through visual management
- Prepare the specific work instructions for each project/component - time, parameters for set-up, lifting plans...
- Support the quality organisation in the construction and implementation of the control plan, tools and Gauge R&R with a special focus on Critical To Quality parameters and auto-control.
- Develop with Manufacturing management the necessary trainings to prepare the managers, supervisors and workers for new specific processes or operations
Maintaining and adapting the capability and the performance of the production means
- Ensure corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance of production means and facility
- Support quality in implementing the capability control plan, study technical solutions in case of deviation of the process capability
- Look for technical improvements of production means, in order to reach the targets of flexibility, capacity adaptation and lead-time reduction
- Specify and manage Assets along their life time, from investment to refurbishment, adaptation and disposal
Managing the continuous improvement
- Strengthen the Lean Manufacturing and TPM management to tend to operational excellence and competitiveness on the Chinese and international markets
- Support the development of continuous improvement mind set within the manufacturing teams
- Collect and share best practices and benchmarks from other locations, companies, industries
According to the business needs, on case by case basis, the ME Manager may support other functions of Hydro Vadodara in order to reach and sustain a high level of performance
Welding Engineering & Heat Treatment and Metallurgy -
• Sound knowledge of welding processes, practices, equipment, technologies etc.
• Knowledge of ASME & TWE
Industrial Engineering -
• Knowledge of Lean
• Knowledge of various methods of work estimation - both for man & machines
• Knowledge of robotics, automation
• Industry benchmarking
• Knowledge of TPS
• Knowledge of fabrication and machining tools required in Heavy Engineering
• Knowledge of new age machine tools
Capital Items -
• Knowledge of Medium & Large size machines required for Heavy Engineering
Advance Manufacturing & Digital -
• Idea of Industrial digital application in manufacturing
• Good knowledge of IT


- Graduated from an engineering school. Technical skills in metallurgy and machining or welding
- Excellent understanding of design and manufacturing processes
- 10 to 15 year of successful experience in mechanical or metallurgical industry preferably as technical manager
- Experience in change management / Lean or Six Sigma approach
