We are currently seeking a Device Test Analyst to join RWE npowers Smart programme team on a contract basis for an initial 6 months

What is the Smart Programme? The Smart Programme Delivery team is delivering the technical enablers that will result in npower being able to deploy c5 million smart meters by 2020 as part of the governments Smart Programme rollout. Its a large, complex business change programme that is set to transform that way npower delivers energy services across the UK. We work in stages (also known as releases) in order to provide a smooth implementation process for both our customers and our team.

Role Description The purpose of the Device Assurance Specialist (Test Analyst) role is to deliver Smart Metering device quality assurance through the testing approaches, processes, tools and plans as defined by the programme Head of Test and Senior Device Assurance Specialist/Test Lead (flagging opportunities for improvement/areas of risk where relevant) throughout the life-cycle of the Smart Programme Release(s).

What skills and attributes do I need to succeed in this position? Were exploring new initiatives and doing things weve never done before as a business, so this is a great opportunity for Testers to contribute to major change.

Ideally experience within the energy sector and customer profiles within that market, or experience in a large complex organisation.

Proven experience of working in a team responsible for test phases, plans, preparation and execution in a complex delivery environment

Strong communication (verbal and written) and interface skills to allow stakeholder management

Hands-on Testing experience within a range of functional testing including UAT, acceptance and system testing preferably with a device focus

Good HP Quality Centre / HP ALM understanding (or similar transferable test management tool) is required.

High level analytical and problem solving skills

Metering and Communications Device Testing experience.

Some experience of reading Zigbee files is essential

Experience with SMETS & GBCS is essential

Understanding structured test methods and processes

Healthy understanding of Smart Metering system architecture

ISTQB qualification or equivalent is required
