This Construction Inspector will join our growing team in the Baltimore, Maryland office, but will spend the majority of their time working in the field at our client’s various transportation projects . Our Transportation Inspector opportunities provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting and engaging transportation projects. You will utilize your knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures to complete your assigned tasks in a team environment to help ensure the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects for our clients.
Various tasks, responsibilities and contributions will include but not be limited to:
• Assist with a broad cross-section of complex technical and administrative activities requiring extensive experience and specialization in contract compliance, Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) inspection of transportation projects and related construction work
• Identify and document construction and/or QC deficiencies from applicable plans contract documents and/or standard specifications
• Analyze applicable codes, standards and project contract documents and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents
• Maintain and/or prepare a variety of records, including daily/weekly progress reports, material accounting records, change orders and record drawings
• Review new projects for constructability compliance
• Audit monthly progress payment quantities/requests
• Perform and/or evaluate tests and inspections, and other methods of verification as specified
• Monitor contractors' compliance with approved Quality Control Plan
• Make recommendations for improvements to standard construction QC provisions as they apply in the field
• Assure compliance with approved submittals

Minimum Qualifications
• HS Diploma
• Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 3 years-experience with transportation inspection projects or 2 years apprentice/journeyman experience in construction
• Experience documenting installation of work and contractor's performance and experience with applicable codes
• A valid State driver's license
• Good communication (oral and written) skills
• Work experience required with Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia Department of Transportation…work experience with other state DOT’s will be considered


Preferred Qualifications
• AA degree related to engineering or construction management
• Have the following MARTCP certifications completed:
o Soils and Aggregate Compaction Technician
o Aggregate Technician (Field & Plant)
o Concrete Technician (Field & Plant)
o HMA Field Technician
o HMA Plant Technician (Level 1&2)
o Pavement Marking Technician
o Inertial Profiler Operator Technician
