Jacobs is seeking an entry level Software Engineer to provide software engineering support to the State of Florida DCF projects, career development application, and other projects as requested. Coordinates and supports all aspects of the software life cycle from design through development, support and re-engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:
  • Design, develop, maintain and document web software database projects using Java, JavaScript, XML, XSP, XSL, and Java Server Faces technology, Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) , open source such as Apache-Tomcat-Cocoon, and other development tools running in Linux or Windows on IBM compatible PCs.
  • Assist with the coding, documenting, testing, and implementation of the systems being developed.
  • Perform duties as the project Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Support application documentation including the User's Guides, Training Manuals, Requirements Specifications, Design Documents and Implementation Plans.
  • Use Captivate software to create and maintain tutorial and test videos for the systems being developed.
  • Develop projects in accordance with Jacobs Standard Software Process.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree -Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field;

  • One (1) years of general work experience.
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS, Linux, Open Source Systems, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, and XML required.
  • CMMI training as assigned by supervisor



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Computer background experience in software design, implementation, testing and documentation.
  • Experience with multiple software development tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be reliable and committed to completing assigned projects on schedule with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary - involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and see and hear with or without accommodation.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.

Equipment and Machines:

Personal computer (75%), scanner (5%), copy machine (5%), telephone (5%), laser printer (5%), fax machine (2%), and other office equipment including desk supplies.

Attendance:

Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday(excluding Saturday & Sunday). Position may require occasional weekend work depending on task requirements. Regular attendance is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6 am and 6 pm.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to secure and maintain a security clearance.

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

Travel requirements - Minimal travel required.
