ABB are recruiting for a Principal Flow Technology Specialist with experience in Flowmeter design and applications, especially Electromagnetic (EM) and Ultrasonic.

As the Principal Flow Technology Specialist for Electromagnetic & Ultrasonic technologies you will responsible for, but not limited to:
• Innovative thinking to product solutions or sub systems, meeting customer needs and requirements for flowmeter design
• Keeping abreast of new Flow technologies, DSP, technology changes and their application
• Signal processing concepts, with ability to model solutions, in Matlab, LabView, MathCAD, Excel or similar packages
• Circuit design and analysis using circuit simulators / modelling
• Ideally deliver quality embedded product firmware, primarily in C or C#, within a project team, or as an engineer
• Contribute to electromagnetic sensor and ultrasonic transducer design
• Planning and documenting own work at all stages of development cycle
• Team working, communication skills, technical support to other departments, ability to work independently if necessary
• Writing design architecture and detailed design requirements specifications
• Design, testing and prototyping to agreed timescales and specification

• Minimum BSc or higher in Software engineering, Electronic engineering, Physics or similar qualification
• >5 years' experience in the field of flow measurement, ideally product design
• Proven record of creative and practical thinking / solutions
• Understanding of fluid dynamics
• Background in electronics or at least a reasonable understanding of electronics and microcontroller systems
• Experience with software simulation and circuit analysis tools such as LabView, MathCAD, Matlab, PSpice, MicroCap or similar

• Experience with finite element analysis, pressure vessel design, thermal /emf/hydraulic flow profile modelling
• Proven record of experience of object orientated design, UML, C, C#
• Experience of industrial instrumentation, buses and M2M radio communications
• Experience of ultra-low power designs and energy scavenging
