The Steam Turbine Performance Engineer will be executing highly technical services on various steam turbine models covering combined cycle, coal-fired, and nuclear applications. These technical services include steam path audits and thermal performance tests. The successful execution of these global services will require that you adhere to internal processes while being open to the challenges that may arise.

Essential Responsibilities

Our engineers are accountable for the quality our customers feel when purchasing our services. Areas of customer quality include accurate / timely documentation, appropriate / timely installation of instrumentation, accurate collection of field data, accurate inspections and recommendations, various site activities, and communications.

As the Steam Turbine Performance Engineer, you will:
  • Conduct thermal and structural audits of steam turbine rotating and stationary components
  • Prepare, plan, and execute thermal performance tests on steam turbines
  • Analyze data, calculate test results, diagnose and evaluate testing issues and develop corrective actions as needed
  • Provide service recommendations for the restoration of steam turbine components to optimal conditions
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers regarding audit / testing activities, schedules, technical issues, and test results
  • Support continued development and improvement of performance tools / processes
  • Identify and report in-field sales opportunities
  • Support new service development initiatives


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of steam turbine maintenance experience with stationary and rotating components
  • Ability to travel extensively in support of global assignments, as required

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Understanding of steam turbine thermodynamics
  • Highly energized self-starter who can work independently
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Training or proficiency in steam turbine design and/or thermodynamics
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Proficient in the use of GE thermal modeling tools (i.e. GateCycle, THB (Thermal Heat Balance), Stage by Stage)
  • Familiarity with the latest steam turbine repair techniques on both stationary and rotating components
  • Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Greenbelt Certified or equivalent quality certification
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to business leaders and customers
  • Experience working with customers
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities
  • Desire for continual improvement and skills development
  • Desire to bring forward creative new ideas to help shape future growth opportunities
