The Field Services Technician will complete the installation and commissioning of the GE Jenbacher gas engine at customer sites. As the key technical lead for problem solving on the engine at the customer site, the role will be the first line of contact with the customer for problems solving and learning.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Field Service Technician, you will:
  • Be responsible for the commissioning of GEJenbacher Gas Engines at customer site locations
  • Provide assistance to customers, operating staff and other GE field personnel on the installation
  • Perform troubleshooting activities on site to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution and implement corrective actions
  • Resolve technical issues, foster knowledge sharing and help others
  • Explain technical issues in a concise way
  • Act as interface between customer, channel partner and GEJenbacher
  • Provide external and internal reports in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Identify and report all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the organization
  • Build a strong customer relationship through a positive, proactive & professional approach
  • Maintain tools and test equipment properly and ensure they're calibration
  • Prove a strong safety mindset to ensure the executed work reflects the technical requirements along with the GE safety standards


  • Associate's Degree in an electrical technical discipline such as automotive, electrical, or other related discipline (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a field service role with reciprocating engines)
  • Ability and willingness to travel about 80% of the time in the United States and 20% internationally, as required

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

Desired Characteristics

  • Minimum of 5 years of field service experience in servicing or commissioning large industrial reciprocating engines
  • Experience working on Jenbach or Waukesha product lines
  • Experience troubleshooting the controls/electrical systems on engines
  • Authorized for working on electrical equipment (minimum 1000V), proof necessary (-for Europe only)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an understandable manner
  • Professional knowledge of control technologies and (SPS) programming
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to deliver consistently a high level of performance
  • Fluency in English- verbal & written
  • Valid driving license
  • RCA Leader certification (GE employees only)
  • Green belt certification or equivalent quality certification
