Process Engineer (f/m) - Lauchhammer
Department: Technical Support - Blade Factory
Our Blade factories produce the entire blade of a wind turbine. The global production of wind turbine blades is allocated to 7 factories across Europe, Asia and the Americas. One of our manufacturing bases is located in Lauchhammer (close to Dresden) and over 600 people there work together not only towards the production of wind turbine blades, but also towards continuously improving the production processes to ensure the highest quality product.

For our Technical support department we are looking for a Process Engineer (f/m) to strengthen our team. The position is based in Lauchhammer, near Dresden (Germany).

Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, the Process Engineer will support the blades production processes providing technical leadership for the designated area of actuation including support to capacity expansion projects and projects to improve product and process robustness.

  • Oversee project activities such as process simulation, development and improvement
  • Support the manufacturing floor by leading machine improvement and uptime activities in order to help the areas to meet the established goals and production schedule
  • Drive machinery and processes improvements and serve as focal point of contact on a daily basis between Central Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Install manufacturing equipment, develop standard operating procedures and provide technical support
  • Ensure preventive maintenance strategies and schedules, train and/or coordinate trainings for manufacturing personnel when required
  • Monitor performance metrics as yield, waste, machine efficiency and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Conduct benchmarking in internal and external plant systems and generate recommendations to management
  • Review potential process feasibility, risk assessment, requirements, identify new/existing processes, present and support the implementation of cost reduction projects
  • Investigate new technologies and determine feasibility for use and application
  • Attend engineering changing process meetings providing inputs and feedback in regards to the respective process area
  • Attend production team board daily meetings

  • Completed university degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and in process development is preferred
  • Previous experience writing equipment specifications, operating procedures and dealing with equipment vendors is preferred
  • Capable of working under minimal supervision and able to take the lead in technical issues concerning the designated process area(s)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to adapt quickly to fast-paced environments with system approach to solving complex problems
  • Innovative mindset but also ability to prioritize ideas and communicate them in a clear manner, openly discussing with the team
  • Action and result-oriented person with strongly developed team work skills
  • Project Management, Manufacturing, Validations, Lean and/or Six Sigma methodology (especially Design of Experiments statistical tool) trainings are a very strong advantage
  • Very good German and English language skills required
